Saw it yesterday, thought it was unbelievably good. Definitely pretty bleak at times, SUPER violent.
While I definitely think it helps to have seen the previous movies, I still think it'd be completely easy to understand if you hadn't. They generally want these to appeal to as many people as possible, so I think they do a pretty good job of leaving in enough background info so as to not discourage anyone from seeing em.

not really...
i'd say watch them in order since this one happens way after all the rest.
skip x-men: the last stand, though. completely terrible waste of time.
Apocalypse is also a heaving, steaming, groaning heap of an abomination, wheezeing "kill me... kill me..." as a bare bulb swings from the ceiling.
*edit* (feelings enlarged to show texture, obv)

apocalypse was disappointing but not as bad as i thought it'd be. and he's my favorite villain. 3 was the only one that flat out sucked IMO. and x-men / x-factor / x-force were by far my favorite books back in my youth. (also have the first 9 X-23 if i remember correctly.)
to each their own.

^^^I thought Liefeld's X-Force run was gold when I was seven. I still own them, but my mind has changed a bit.

i dunno. i didna really like it. like, it was a'ight, and fuck yeah finally seeing someone who has KNIVES IN HIS ARMS finally actually..... cutting people was cool. but it was pretty meh for me.
the constant cursing grated a bit. i like a filthy mouth (giggety), but the ever present FUCK FUCK FUCK was.... kinda childish. like. i get it. again, fuck YES finally an R rared Wolvie movie. but. blegh.
was just so damn predictable. and the things that were neat like the super violent fightings were done over and over and over. whole thinger was a bit long too.
X23 was pretty cool. ending was pretty cool. some of the ultra violence was pretty cool. SO MANY BRAIN STABBINGS.
but totes feels like a very forgettable moobie that only a few bits are going to stick with me.

completely disagree.
the fbombing was as overdue as the blood.
re: predictable, the departed - i literally told the friend next to me everything that was happening next when i sat through that flick. didn't w/ this one.
i'm probably gonna see this again tomorrow (aka later today) or tues, and will probably watch it over and over once i have a copy.
to each their own. but to all of you comic book nerds who didn't think this was awesome, you're fucking idiots!

lol. right on. for reals, i'm glad you enjoyed it, and wish i did as much as you did. it's by FAR the best thing with Wolvie in it (mannnnnn even the 2 "good ones" of the og trilogy do nooooot hold up well), and it was a decent fun movie. just didna resonate with me i guess.
heh. and i used to be a comic nerd? if they had done way closer to the Old Man Logan storyline i would have been ALL IN.

Once again I am nowhere near as critical of movies as most people, or so it seems.
Also, I can't imagine Richard E Grant as anyone but Withnail.

This is why it'll take me a long time to see this movie.

yur yur. i mean, it was fun. and worth seeing. but not amazeballs. at least to me?
i'm still boggled they fucked up the 4 part mini series comic Wolvie Goes Ultimate Weeaboo so. fucking. BAD.
that seemed like if you gave it pretty much the Sin City paper to film treatment it would have been REOWOOOWWWOOORRR.
