I need to figure out a way to swing the h9000
In my experience it was not in the modes where polyphony would matter - diatonic, quadravox, pitchflex, etc...
Also none of Eventide's documentation mentions polyphonic pitch shifting which is something you would absolutely mention if it was in fact polyphonic. It may handle some simple diads like 4ths and 5ths and octaves well enough but I think the EH and Digitech pedals are vastly superior. However, if you're mostly using the pedal for the algorithms that are primarily delay based like crystals and such then its less of an issue.
I'm almost certain its polyphonic because I mostly use the diatonic/quadravox/pitchflex with chords. I'll play like I sometimes do 5th with a Maj9 chord using the pitchflex set to 5ths.
I also do a lot of sus and inverted chords with it and the tracking can glitch a bit but it does indeed work and especially if used subtly it isn't too much of a worry. If I do anything that is power chords or 4th it's pretty much perfect as far as I'm concerned.
Although maybe I don't really know what polyphonic pitchshifting is supposed to sound like or something.
oh and you cant discount the delays, the chorus type sound, the strange synth stuff, the digital fuzz and ring mod sounds you can create, and a tuner to top it all off. The only other pitch shifter I use is a boss PS-2. I tried the pog but it was too bland for me, and I never got around to trying a whammy or similar because they were so big.
There is your evidence that it isn't polyphonic. The Pitch Fork handles all those intervals without issues. So do the current whammys. Eventide might have been able to make it pretty damn good but its the highest price pitch box on the market and it cant do things that pedals from 10 years ago do. Its still full of killer sounds but when I buy a pitch pedal a big part of what I want is polyphony.

There's a new video on Eventide's Facebook regarding upcoming "structural effects" and talking about breaking sound down into its fundamental components and changing and creating sound in ways unheard of previously and limited only by our imagination.
Or some such bullshit.
Sounds interesting, if not a bit wanky, but I'll be keeping an eye out.

I agree that standard pitch shifting is the weakest part of the Pitchfactor. Not bad, but maybe å little bland? I mostly use it for a micro POG-ish preset, and it sounds ok on its own, but in a band context my old EHX micro POG sounded much better/alive.
And I also use it to tune my guitar 1 step down. It works, but it makes the guitar sound a little more dull.
But it can do so much awesome stuff, so I can tollerate the pitch shifting being just ok.

I think the consensus here is that pitch shifting should sound bad and unnatural.
So combine that with all the other bonktertron stuff the PF can do and it's pretty much a dream pedal. I could (and almost do) run a whole 'board' with a PF and a good dirt box or two.

That's what I need in a separate box, with the ability to make your own presets and change length/time signature.
Hope is some granular shit too.

Na. Certainly some pedals are highly regarded for their tracking imperfections - og whammy - but I like stuff that can do pristine with the ability to lower the resolution. If I had the money I'd get the H8000 or the new 9000 cause I love the sound of near perfect polyphony.
The Pitchfactor is a true Swiss army knife and I'm going to get another, I just wish it could do POGish territory while still having the ability to lower the resolution or tracking.

I couldn't get past the narrator and the music. It was like watching a corporate sexual harassment video.

Whammy V was really interesting for this very thing.
Mostly being facetious based on the number of BOSS PS-Xs I see on boards versus the number of POG 2s.

Yeah the imperfections can suck but I have learned to just play alongside them. Honestly, the stuff it can do, pitchshifting isn't the absolute most important part. Although I do use it heavily in my song writing. I don't know anything that could replace all the functionality either. Having a pitchfactor 2 would be nice especially if you can grime it up pretty hard. I feel like if you really needed to imitate synth sounds, I probably would skip that and play some of my synths, and I rarely ever need to imitate a bass without it sounding purposefully goofy.
Although it is true, I prefer my PS-2's over the micropogx2 I've owned. I use pitch shifting a lot though.

I didn't use the smart harmony stuff. The Harmodular or whatever is called is awesome. So is the Crystals but not in the usual "shimmer" shit. Shifting it down is awesome. I also had a lot of whammy harmony presets in the pitch flex. Also loved pattern terms in the arp algorithm and using an expression pedal - which I think is crucial with the PF - to adjust tremolo speeds.
The synth stuff is ok. I didn't really use those algorithms much.
When I was more pedal crazy I usually had a HOG or POG2 I used along with it, to cover the more polyphonic ground.

Funny how people use it differently. I thought using an expression pedal with the PF was a waste of time and space, but I love running the synth algorithm into dirt.
