A could thing to keep in mind is also that even before digital recording a lot of bands would still do 50 takes of a part to make sure they got what they wanted.
Also I've noticed musicians tend to want to do things in as few takes as possible or else they feel like they're not good enough but honestly the more takes the better. Mix it up and then at the end while mixing you'll end up with more options to choose from.
More takes>less takes
