I set up a pentagram with saint candles at a local bar for a noise show one time and was banned from playing there again

Nice, when was this show? Wish I could have witnessed that.

I want to say 2010? I skipped that stop because I was going to see them in Brattleboro (was living in VT at the time), but I wound up missing that show too, unfortunately.

Our first time playing Oakland was on my anniversary. My wife was going to school in SF and I was working down in Bakersfield. Thought it would be a good start to the weekend to play a show in Oakland. We were getting paid too ($35 to drive 4 hours!!! + 1 free beer for everyone in the band).
I went to SF to pick up my wife (gf at the time) and headed to Oakland. Show was at 8pm and I got there at 5pm (usual for me...I tuned everything and preset as much as I could to stick to our rigid setup time allowances I set like a madman haha). My Bass player was drunk...like 1.5 bottles of Cutty Sark/Black Velvet drunk when I got there. He had fallen out of the chair at the bar and was thrashing on the ground. Bartender was like, "You know this guy?"...of course I did. So I pick him up and then remember that our drummer at the time was 17 (I was barely 21 and the bass dude was 30 I think). I sat him down on this couch in the back room and told the drummer to be quiet or else we would get kicked out for having a 17 year old play a bar (he was a fill in which is another dumb story). About that time, somebody with a bike comes into the bar and my bass player was slapping my drummer for who in the hell knows what reason. The bike person pulled a pink knife on my bass player and walks him up to the bartender. Bartender kicks him out. I was out front talking to my wife/girlfriend about our ruined night and the bass player comes stumbling out and the bouncer/bartender both tell us to get the fuck out.
I do damage control, as usual, and get us back into the show. A whole incident of loosing the dude, pizza being thrown at people by him, locking him in a car (which was a bit of magic figuring they lock from the inside...but drunk).
Start up the show...bass player dude plays one "riff" for like 5 minutes...our set at its best was 15 minutes including pauses (and at worst 25 minutes). Two songs went by, same riff. Turned off his amp. He maddogs me...then turns the amp back on and starts the same riff. I unplug and carry everything off stage (head and cab in one lift pedals and guitar on my back) and walk out the door. Poor drummer was scarred and finished the set. Singer dude had already left (was terrified because dude chugged whisky up the 5). Bouncer says it was the greatest thing he has seen on stage since the 1980s when sunset strip bands would break up on stage. Venue dude says never again. I think the drummer and singer got bus rides back home because they thought they would die in the car with my bass player. That was pretty much the end of that (though we did continue on...just different and with new checks/balances haha).
I thought we gave a good show

haha//Oh, yea, then somebody yelled "Bakersfield" and I came back in ready to fight. haha!
Other than that, yea, I was told we were too loud all the damn time. Rarely got asked to play twice (and got shut off three times). Giant amps and high pitched ring mods. Made a kid's ear bleed (my crowning achievement) and also made a few people get dizzy and sick. Drunk versus frequencies above hearing = win!

Drove 90 minutes to a gig in LA, somewhere shitty. This was a full improvisation noise/rock/whatever band, two bassists, no vocals, etc. Got about 2 "songs" in (15 minutes), and were told that we weren't worth the electricity: please go home. Friend of ours found us another gig in about 15 minutes, so we drove to Pasadena and did the same thing. Except people liked us, so we played a full set. Yay.

I didn't get kicked out, but I accidentally got a show shut down at Gallery 5 in Richmond about 6 years ago. I was first on the bill, and I think it might have been a Sunday show? Either way apparently the neighbors complained about my power electronics enough that they shut the show down. I was bummed, because there was an awesome desert rock band that was going to play after that didn't get the chance.

Ha! That was once the goal.
Quite a while ago, with my old band, we got asked to play some sort of "local music only" festival with different stages in different locations throughout the city.
Sounded cool, but then, we got programmed to play on a stage in a shopping mall, at 11 am! WTF?
So, we showed up and "played" an improvised noise and feedback orgy .... after 15-20 minutes or so, the sound guy walks on stage and shouts into my ear: "Is this your last song? Because you need to end your set, like, right now!" I shouted back: "It's still our first song, but don't worry, we're done in a minute!"
It was fun.

i was playing a show at the Knockout, a 21+ up bar in the Mission. before i was 21. it was all bad from the start. the door lady didn't wanna let me or my drummer in (he's about 6 months to a year younger than me or so). we were forced to hang out outside the whole time. so, during another band's set my roommate who is 21 comes outside with a beer leaves it and goes for a piss. well then the door lady just felt like fucking with us and starts threatening to have us kicked out for standing outside the bar (where she fucking told us to stand!) with a can of beer on the windowsill. we tried to explain it to her but she was on a power trip, then my roommate came back and started arguing with her. he told her off pretty good. she went inside to talk to the bartender (who is friends with my band) to have us banned. then my guitar player comes outside to tell us he talked us out of being banned and my roommate explained that it was his fault and needs to go apologize on our behalf. either way i'm never playing a bar again if i can help it. even though i'm 24 this year i'm gonna start refusing to show my ID, and if they don't let me in. we bail. i'm tired of shitty bars that break laws, stay open, then pick on their patrons while it was the bar's fault for getting too lax.

Never been kicked out, but were asked not to come back to a venue once after the front few rows of the crowd punched massive holes in the ceiling.

Once cops shut down a show in this kids garage for being too Punk.
Another time we were set to close at a memorial show for one of the local punk dudes. The band before us got wwwaaayyyyy drunk and played the same song (poorly) for like an hour. They were set up on the floor and we were set up on a stage behind them. After ten minutes of trying to get the singer to put his guitar down, my drummer went up to grab the mic so we could start the set, and some girl came up from behind and sucker punched him in the back of the head twice. He turned around and socked her, only to realize that it was a relatively small girl, and an all out brawl broke out. We tore down and walked off stage after that. What a fucking riot.
