I thought the music was pretty.

I think it's pretty too, but I'm not sure how much I like seeing strange new instruments make music that could be made with instruments that were made hundreds of years ago.

Interesting. Really really pretty, the ribbon synth looking thing he was using looked hella sweet too honestly. Hope he keeps making more content.

As far as what other people are saying in regards to "this could be done on something made 100 years ago", I think its more just about building the thing for him. Dude likes building crazy shit, and that crazy shit happened to make really pretty music. The instruments themselves are basically art pieces that play music.

Obviously, their whole thing is pretty gimmicky.

Not sure these are really "strange new instruments" either. The music box technology they use in that thing is basically like 200 years old. The technology in their little modular ribbon synth thingee is over 50 years old. So, it's more in what they're doing with it than anything else.

Suppose so. Honestly more interested in the build process videos than anything else, scratches my how its made itch. He did a whole series of videos documenting the build process for the marble machine.

Yeah, I think it's great. I dig it even if I'd never wanna play music like that myself. They're building interest in their music no matter what people think of the actual music itself.

I mean the whole thing with synthesis is that you can make it sound like any instrument. He's really just playing that ribbon synth as if it were a violin.

That ribbon synth is a R2M hooked up to a modular, I think. Looks like he made a patch to emulate a violin or w/e and is riding the volume knob with his left hand.

Think he was riding the volume knob. Probably patched in a smooth tone for a sort of violin vibe.

I like it! Sounds great and relaxing. I'd never use one, but I'd listen to someone else use one all day long.
