YES! My girlfriend's from Hamden, so I've been to most of the big New Haven spots. LOVE Louis' Lunch. Can't say what my favorite pizza is... maybe Pepe's?Chankgeez wrote:D.o.S. wrote:

The best thing about Vernors is drinking it with Jameson. The Vern Ehlers, as we call it over here in Grand Rapids.Invisible Man wrote:Some of us wander around a bit. I'm always curious about what kinds of stuff the locals enjoy, as it gives you a bit of the flavor of a place. What's a cool thing/object/food/drink that you wish everyone knew about?
Michigan:
Pasties
Vernors
Faygo (Insane Clown Posse/Juggalo/Juggalette references welcome)
Coney Islands
Jet's Pizza
Beer--all varities (I don't drink, but there is a shit ton of interesting beer here)
Koegel's
Buffalo, NY:
Lloyd's tacos
Wings, I guess
Jim's Steakout
Again, beer
Cheese-covered everything
Spar's European Sausages
Weber's Mustard
Mighty Taco (fucking awful; many like it, though)
Loganberry Soda
Sahlen's hot diggity dogs

Dude, I forgot about Rock & Rye! I haven't had any in years...one thing I love about Faygo (besides the laughable prices) is that they do not give two shits about accurately naming their flavors. What the fuck is 'Rock & Rye?' Or, my personal favorite: 'RedPop,' which basically just tastes red. I think there may be a strawberry on the wrap, but...the flavor is just a color. Sort of like how banana-shaped Runts just taste yellow--nothing like a banana. Jean Baudrillard calls this the 'hyperreal'--where the false thing that is made in the image of a real thing actually becomes a real thing itself.
