The One's OS is utter garbage. Horribly designed, difficult to navigate. They've recently released an update that improved a lot of really bad things, but I'd say it's still horsey at best.

I was pretty bummed to be so disappointed by it, as I was a huge fan of the 360 and vastly preferred it to the PS3 (I had both of those). I like the Xbox controller a lot better, always have.

I figure it can only get better, so I'll just try to be optimistic about any updates to come. That said, you probably did the right thing by getting the PS4.
I've heard some complaints about the interface, but I've yet to use one without a kinect, so I'm not sure what I think about it. I feel the same as you re: 360/ps3 - I only played exclusives on the PS3 last gen. I actually didn't get a PS4 (unless you were directing that at someone else, in which case, feel free to disregard)...I'm probably buying an Xbox One tomorrow simply because I found a really, really good deal and my brother in law has just about every game released so far, so I can borrow shit for free. Time will tell if I regret it, but I doubt I will have much remorse initially while I'm playing Forza 6 :!!!:

Ah, I misread--guess that wasn't you who said they went with a PS4.

Your plan doesn't sound bad--if you've got access to borrowed games, it's kind of a no-brainier. Overall they rushed the releases for both of the new platforms, so there are always going to be lots of bumps for early adopters. Like I said--it should only get better as they refine the OS.

I've had both. Prefer the XBOXONE.

I've been thinking Xbox 360? The only reason I'm thinking that is because I have a copy of Beautiful Katamari I'd like to play.
Actually, it's not a bad idea to track down the older consoles to play things that you missed, they're all dirt cheap. I never got an Xbox so, maybe? I kind of need a new PS3 slim because my George Foreman is going to die.

Super high resolution graphics are pretty overrated, while games actually being good is preferable. :idk:

This is a great point in the Xbox's favor.

Got to spend time with one this weekend and overall.... not impressed.

Was playing the Halo collection and holy sweet mother of all that is holy that shadows literally "jump" in. Scary stuff. Saw comparison video of Star Wars: Battlefront on both systems and the PS4 version blows the Xbox version away something gruesome.

Also no internal batteries on the controller sucks balls.

...that hard drive issue though. Recently replaced my PS4 HD, granted it was relatively quick and easy, but not as easy as plugging a USB 3.0 drive...

I've got to say - I am very happy with my PS4. It does everything I need it to, and I don't play games very much which is why I just bought the ps4 instead of building a PC.

Great interface, free games every month, quality games etc..

I'd completely agree with this and get a 360 for that kind of thing—I feel like they really had that together. Netflix integration worked really well (Netflix on my One is REALLY shoddy, not sure if it's that way for everyone), plus I could stream movies files off my laptop using the PS3 Media Server app (don't let the name mislead you—works for 360 too). Then yep, DVDs.

When I got the Xbox One, it had no media player, and the Blu-Ray player couldn't even handle playing discs—audio was all out of sync, etc. They've finally fixed these things, but it took them FOREVER. So anyway, as I mentioned before, I think all of these problems were due to rushed launch, and it is getting better. Meanwhile, if you're looking for a cheap media center kind of thing, the 360 would work really well for you.

You can emulate old games on pc and even many consoles with homebrew os. Fully agree with your last sentence.
Graphics without gameplay are digital video clips, visual novels.

Fair warning. MS used the worst thermal compound and poor heat sink design. Once fixed with arctic silver it's pretty much good to go unless something fried due to the poor design. Old consoles would overheat if you used them on carpet, beds, fabric etc...or if you left them on for days at a time. Every1 of my frenz w/360 had rrod at some point from normal use on hard surfaces.

Huge original xbox and 360 fan, but got a ps4 this gen. Better games (for my taste), better interface, better controller (finally), lots of indies. Very pleased!

I went PS4 and have been happy with it so far. I had a hard time choosing between the two as well, my final decision came down to the fact that the PS4 is physically smaller than the Xbox1.

Idunno, when I think of the majority of gamers, all I think about is fucking Call of Duty and online multiplayer. Which makes me think of bros in backwards hats screaming at their tvs

I know, right?

Good thing is there are PC games and a lot of obscure stuff from the 90s that are still enjoyable.
