How much saffron is used in these things? Saffron is expensive. I could probably only afford 1 bun.

Fuck yeah, my brothers girlfriend made some amazing saffron buns yesterday. I know some plebs use turmeric instead of saffron. :thumb:

Saint Lucy's Day is on December 13, in Advent. Her feast once coincided with the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year before calendar reforms, so her feast day has become a festival of light.[1][2] St. Lucy’s Day is celebrated most commonly in Scandinavia, with their long dark winters, where it is a major feast day, and in Italy, with each emphasizing a different aspect of the story.

In both Norway and Sweden, girls dressed as Lucy carry rolls and cookies in procession as songs are sung. It is said that to vividly celebrate St. Lucy's Day will help one live the long winter days with enough light.

Saint Lucy is one of the few saints celebrated by the overwhelmingly Lutheran Nordic people. The St. Lucy's Day celebrations retain many indigenous Germanic pagan, pre-Christian midwinter elements. Some of the practices associated with the day predate the adoption of Christianity in Scandinavia, and like much of Scandinavian folklore and even religiosity, is centered on the annual struggle between light and darkness.
Festival of Light???

I feel like I have heard about that from somewhere else :poke:

Saffron is pretty strong stuff so you don't need alot if used right
but it still aint cheap and I have always wondered if it really adds much by way of flavor

Pretty sure you just made this up.

Though, that's true of descriptions of most holidays...a coworker just honeymooned in Iceland, and came back talking about the thirteen iterations of Santa Claus. One steals your sausages. And I thought "what the fuck, that's really strange." Then realized that we leave cookies out for Santa in my house, and that isn't really any more bizarre.

Most of the Icelandic Santas are assholes, though, as is the Yule Cat, who eats children who don't have new clothes on Christmas.

Also unrelated: a significant proportion of Icelanders believe in elves.

Ok so the first result when googling saffron sells it for $90 an ounce. That is roughly 28 grams. I can get 4 and half blowjobs for $90. Fuck that.

half a blowjob can be worse than no blowjob at all.

Also of note, we're just assuming the cost is divided equally. He could be getting one for $83 and the others for $7 total.
