Yeah.
Tym is expensive.
He also neither deals Matamps nor make his Sour Lemon clones anymore, so that sucks.
I may have to hit up one of the dudes around here.
Maybe Nick could do one a la the OD he did.

Annoyingly, I had a Carvin power amp ages ago that was tits.
Although, I don't think it could do KT88s, despite being able to switch between El34s and 6l6s.

If you can feed the preamp to a jet city 100hdm, that would grt my vote.
Those are easily modded...i ran kt77's with my 50w...so maybe with a bit adjustment you can run kt88's in the 100w...and use AOR as preamp. Also jet city's are cheap
Btw...i saw on the social webz that Tym is making the Lemon pedal again. Not sure it will be available but should keep an eye out for it.

Again though, Tym prices...
He serviced the AOR and bought it out of ten year slumber, so I'd definitely take my gear to him for work.
But I can't afford his steez on pedals. For the same price I could get some custom built monstrosity of electric witch-cult titties from an ILF builder.

agreed...you should see if Nick can do it...although i dont recall if he has ever done a Laney Preamp before...i like the the idea of it though...if he does I might get one too.

Who knew that Album-Oriented Rock rocked so hard?

To quote ACDC, "we don't write singles, we write albums."
Even if it has been the same album for nearly forty years, you have to respect that mentality.
I will concede though, I only recently found out that the AOR stood for "advanced overdrive response".
Look at those bodies from Birmingham get all sci fi and futuristic.
Cute.

I actually meant to write "boffins " but my phone obviously didn't like that.
Video was totally on point.
As always, Chank rules.

You should be able to swap in KT88 directly for EL34.
same pinout
KT88 draws 1.6a heater current vs. 1.5a for el34. very close and the extra 0.2a draw, your PT can probably handle.
You may have to change the value of bias resistor, in order to get bias range inline with the KT88.
I believe some of the 'PARK' amps used KT88s, which Marshall built the early versions for.. which was just a rebadged Marshall switched out with KT88s.
Have you tried KT77's? I have KT77's in my Sound City B120 and like those quite a bit more than the EL34's. Takes 6 Power tubes so i haven't experimented too much with tube rolling it.

Interesting....
Maybe worth discussion with a tech.
I'd like the full 70+ or whatever watts out of the 88s though, and to not potentially blow up my PT/OT trying.
I'll see how I feel about this topic after I get the other half of my basic rig sorted.
Because I feel like it will need a slave compliment as well.

AOR Gain Pedal = AOR 30 with line out. I run mine into an Acoustic 150. It sounds a lot like a whole bunch of really loud AOR.

That sounds like a killer combo there.

+1 for running kt77s. I've got them in my AOR.
