Yes. How absurd that someone doesn't enjoy bad movies. It's not like there are thousands of people who would use that funding to produce something of actual value and quality and seeing the plethora of forgettable throwaway piles of "ironic" garbage actually makes them feel a little sad.
:eyeroll:
(im not really mad or miffed or super serious or anything, I just think it's a perspective that deserves being asserted)
EDIT: I do like the road warrior. It's fun, but it just clearly lacks the subtlety and character arc of the first movie.
My ultimate point on mad max is that you don't randomly.bring back a franchise like that after so long because you're genuinely inspired or feel you can do something new or worthwhile. You do it because you of greed and/or desperation.

Eye of the beholder and stuff. But yeah, point taken.
Haven't seen the new one yet. My favorite one is Thunderdome.
Oh yeah, about series reboots. I hate that too.
The villain of the first movie is very scary in a subtle way. The plot is just meh, for me. But he's the best bad guy of the series. Kind of wish he ended up killing Max, too, and the sequel was about him. Uncomfortable audience trying to figure out whether it's ok to root for a rapist murderer protagonist.

I heard it was just a 2 hour post-apocalyptic Cannonball Run...

Do you smoke?
Do you drink alcohol?
How much do you spend on those monthly?
How much does a movie ticket cost, monthly?
Hmm.

About the same as a fifth of Old Thompson, and I know I'll enjoy that.
Anyway, I'm done grumping about this. I'll disappear into the mists now......

I LOVED Beyond the Thunderdome. Seriously awesome IMO. You know, I don't know if I've ever seen the second one? Holy shit. I need to buy that!

Nope. Not until it's on-demand.
I don't pay for any remakes at the box office...sorry Hollywood.
Speaking of the devil, it appears that this is a *very Hollywood* remake...from what I've gathered it's as entertaining as absurd and panders, panders panders.

It feels like movie journalists are trying real hard to legitimize their enjoyment of this movie and just sidestepping the fact that it's also a totally batshit action movie.

While I agree it's a cash grab, it's also an R rated action movie. So there's a good philosophical reason to stay away and a good philosophical reason to support it.

It's not philosophic. It has no deep meaning. It is simply Big Dumb Fun. And I salute it!

It really doesn't have any character development, the plot is simple, the music is repetitive, and most of the characters are idiots. That said, it's everything I've ever wanted from a movie. It's every crazy, post-apocalyptic movie ever made rolled into one. I don't think liking it can really be justified for any high-minded reason, it's basically really, REALLY good grindhouse.

I haven't seen it yet but I will. It's a nostalgia thing for me. Parts of the original Mad Max was filmed not far from where I grew up. I used to park my car and smoke dope at the exact location where the biker dude had his ankle hancuffed to a booby trapped car. Also my favourite fishing spot is just across the road from the Halls of Justice.

Pretty much. I'm in the minority that didn't love it.
Fun action movie to see on the big screen? Sure.
Calling it Mad Max and putting it in the same league as the first movie? Tall fucking order.
