The Spencer Amps Subzombie is amazing. It's three out of phase distortion circuits and it has these weird envelope effects. It can give you a great brutal metal sound but also all kinds of weird stuff.
I've had it for years and I've never heard of anyone else playing one.

Man, I've been missing my old one lately. It excels for heavy shit. Its really cool at the end of the chain, cause it reacts so differently to what you feed it.

I used to use it so heavily gated a note could just barely get through for weirder glitchy parts, and then hit it with my Mini to open it up and make it roar. There are a ton of sounds in there, and a couple of them are even bass friendly haha

Check out the pedalsandeffects demo of it. Juan's demos can be disappointing but that one is pretty good. Also, behndy and excane.

Jumbo Tonebender clone first impressions: It's basically a muff, although livelier and with lower gain (it's missing one gain stage compared to a muff). Big and clear in the low end. Really nice for palm muting and rhythm. Plenty of fuzz when you turn it up. Grittier and less plasticky than a muff. The grit is kinda similar to Black Forest grit so if you stack it with a Black Forest you can make a giant, semi-consistent Overdrive/Fuzz-o-Rama. Doesn't clean up with the volume knob any better than any other muffoid. It also has the muff scoop, but not as bad as some, and it has plenty of upper mids to cut through if you turn the tone up.

Ultimately, if you have a couple of muffs, you probably don't need it, but it's gonna work for me better than the Deluxe Muff I just got rid of because it's crunchier, clearer and has a bigger ass. I'm gonna use it as a rhythm/foundation fuzz and goose it with the Black Forest and the Fuzzolo when I need to freak out.

Good to know, I watched the Behndy and Excane ones and was super impressed, but wasn't sure if it would cut through for bass

That's fair, it just read like you were promoting someone for their cloning expertise, of a pedal that's made by a guy on ILF, who actually contributes to the community.

I'd actually like to hear from anyone who has a Buzzaround or, more importantly, a Death Dealer.
That circuit had gone under my radar until recently and I'm pretty impressed with it as a foundation tone.
Would like to know how it goes with our brands of heavy, though. Haven't seen too many on boards.

There's a very particular searing lead sound that the EQD Sound Shank does that I can't help but love...

I LOVE my Sound Shank. Uncle Acid toanz for days. It's pretty versatile as well - can do really harsh, zippy sounding fuzz or thick gnarly fuzz for the riffs.

Shanks are fantastic, love mine as well. Not necessarily my first stop on the way to doom-town, but it can get a range of toanz...

There are good "vintage" fuzzy sounds to be had from Harmonic Percolators. Probably not quite suitable for DOOOM, but good. Also, for the diyers, Tim Escobedo's Triple Fuzz is pretty cool.
