Yeah maybe a politics thread isn't a great idea. I mainly wanted to spread info about the TPP because of how unbelievably shitty it sounds.

just do it, gb. you don't need to focus group intentions here. tpp is a massive thing and a lot of people who ought to know about it haven't got a clue. if you have good stuff, post it.

It IS as shitty as it sounds and the way things are going it won't be stopped, the best you can ever hope for is if things are delayed, face it we live in a world pretty much ruled by corporations at this point...

I know.... I like to hope that things will get better. I do think they can. Look at all of the times they've tried to stop internet piracy and whatnot.... every time, someone comes up with a new way to do it. I'm not advocating piracy, necessarily, but I DO think we should (and hopefully are) heading in the direction of free information. I think that if enough people do enough small things, it'll make a difference. What gives me the most hope is the spread of the internet. The more people that have access to information and knowledge, the better. We just have to make sure that in the process, the internet doesn't turn into a giant propaganda tool.

I don't think I can hope any more, I lost hope a long time ago..

The problem I think with things like piracy is it is hard to say it's wrong to steal one thing while it is accepted to steal from lots of people if you have the law on your side⦠if corporate crimes and criminals served the same kinds of punishments as they do for other crimes then it would be easier to say stop piracy, but piracy also sees to be a "almost" excepted thing in some ways.. almost like people don't always realize what they are doing is a form of piracy.

I'm very game. I like politics, but I guess I need to know people can be thick skinned about these things. If I really get into it, I'll trash talk like you would with a fan of a rival sports team. I love having someone I know can dish it and take it equally.
But I can also be level-headed, accepting and productive in discussion.

vote 'johnny rockard' in the forthcoming uk general erection.
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/po ... 65145.html
seriously speaking, do not vote ukip under any circumstances. even though this guy seems quite a charmer. please vote labour, green, snp, or whatever least-ugly tactical option is most likely to get the tories out wherever you are.
thank you.
