My old neighbor upstairs used to chase elephants across her living room floor. She always claimed they were cats, but they were not. Also her TV would be on all night, every night. She was very nice though, so only once or twice did I come home and drunkenly play the drums for 5 minutes at 3am. She moved out (or maybe died?

), and then the new idiot teenage'd son upstairs would fuck bears most Friday nights. Big ones even. I used to have parties back then and, well, play bass, so I drove them nuts as well I'm sure. What a jerk! Everyone got along for the most part anyhow.
But... there was a guy who lived there, the story goes he was disowned by his rich parents, and they gave him $40,000 to just leave them alone. So, he ended up living in our complex. He was a piece of shit to everyone, and his carport was next to mine. He bought a brand new Civic and the car was trashed within 6 months. Not wrecked or suddenly damaged, it just got progressively ruined one idiotic decision at a time. I eventually just started parking somewhere else after a beer bottle and fast food trash were left on my vehicle. He didn't even live near my door, but his apartment was legendary for being a drugged out flophouse for up to 10 people at a time. And hey, I was drinking excessively whilst doing drugs myself back then, but I wasn't a dick about it. The whole time he was there the manager was trying to get him evicted, and they would end up in screaming matches on a regular basis. Apparently you can terrorize everyone around you, but if you pay the rent on time, it takes several months and a lawyer to get kicked out.
Fuck apartment life. Great for cheap living if you're never home. That was perfect for my 20s. Now I prefer a yard and mountains of debt!

My neighbour has been trying to fix a shitty boat that he bought - even if we live 2 hours away from water. He attempts to fix the thing my constantly revving it and causing black petrol smoke drift over the street. He has been doing it for about 2 months without making any progress. He drives every dog in the area to bark at him, because it genuinely sounds like it's just going to explode. My Sister was staying over with her Newborn during the weekend, so naturally a Baby that can't sleep makes us feel bad.

My old neighbours, when I lived in the suburbs would ask me why I didn't come to the door when they would knock to complain about the noise of my playing. I would just say I didn't hear them over all the noise. When asked if I could stop the noise I would just say NO and walk off. I would never play before 10 am or after 8 pm. Fuck neighbours. No quarter asked, no quarter given. I never complained when they had parties all the time and still had shit music cranked at 3 am. Again fuck neighbours.

i have a community college freshman basketball team upstairs
no joke
4 kids
18 yr old freshman
and yeah they play up there
and party
i never complained to the landlord
only asked them to keep the bass down on the radio
after the 8th day of blasting till 4am
it was driving me nuts
they actually complaine to landlord about us though
because we smoke OUTSIDE!
they have the heat cranked to 85
and leave theyre windows wide open
they said when we smoke it goes into their place
the landlord pays for heat
so it backfired on them a bit
theyre out in may
i cant figure out if its disrespect
or lack of intelligence
when i was 18 it was both, so
we tore the walls out of our place back then
im reaping my karma i think
good thing is ive never got a complaint about music
spent alot of time thunderproofing
but it still shakes the house
the last people up there were musicians
next person moving in is a bank manager with a 4 yr old
fingers crossed

Can you hear typical footsteps? 4 year olds have one speed: on, running.
And the steps are clumsy and all-heel. The kid above me is 5 or 6 and annoying as hell...but just being a kid.
It's the parents who should have awareness of self and their surroundings...and rarely do.
Current situation is a bit different, but there have been a series of small kids upstairs...with myopic parents.
Sending good vibes your way, RS...to not go from out of the frying pan and into the fire.
Bank manager (control freak) living above a musician (control freak).
Maybe you'll luck out and he'll be Japanese, but Murphy's Law suggests he'll be a guido workaholic first, laissez-faire parent second...with an ineffective nanny who doesn't enforce building rules and lets the kid have free run out of fear for their job.

The neighbors above me vacuum at 9 in the morning at least 5 times a week. I don't understand. I've met the husband once and he apologized just in case his kids and dog were ever noisy. None of that is ever loud enough to be a problem, just weird. My roommates are more annoying than any neighbors. That's a different thread but damn, drama queens and weed is what they've been for the past two years. We used to be friends for friendship and highschool, and now its sort of friendship by default. So excited for the summer, getting married, renting a house, meet some new peeps, start a new band. Been in a funk most of that time and I blame it on apartments.*
Not that my apartment is bad by any means, just need some new scenery and people for a while

Dude, my upstairs neighbours vacuum all the time. Like literally several times a day at worst. Sometimes even at night. And their kids are in their teens, so it's not like there should be a lot of messes to clean up. They talk/argue loudly, and one of the kids practices the violin without much improvement. I don't complain though, as it makes me not feel bad for cranking the amp. Oh well.
Anyway, congrats on new living arrangements and marriage. I used to live in a similar stoner/friends by default situation, and the change of scenery did me good. (Even though I moved in with my parents.

)

Didn't know there were so many stoners in Norway, doesn't it cost a grazillion krones or something?
Funny, the Norwegian didn't strike me as intolerant and with so few people living there you'd think the chances of meeting complete idiots should be smaller.
Most beautiful country I ever visited, I must say.

The sense of entitlement is strong in the norse...
Nah, most of the people I meet are allright, but there are just as many idiots per capita here as any other place. And yes, weed is expensive as fuck.

Not that I'd give a fuck though, I'm in weed walhalla but it does nothing for me, most boring shit ever.
Driving around the corner in Norway, that makes my head explode.
