Stripperaoke at Devils Point every Sunday.
Eat dank fried chicken at Reel'm In on Division.
go to Blue Star after Voodoo and realize the hype is just hype.
Everything everyone else said.
I dunno. I don't do the typical portland shit. I hang out with transients downtown and bug people for cigarettes even though I have a full pack in my pocket.

somehow i missed this thread the first time it was alive. i just got done with a twelve hour cab driving shift, so i'm a bit to tired to go into details of cool shit to do. but yeah, there's a fucking huge DIY punk scene and house shows and shit. there's a punk run venue that is kind of a hub right now called blackwater. it's a legal bar/restaurant, but it started from an illegal underground warehouse type of venue that got too popular and well known to stay in existence. so they started a legit thing. anyway, check it out. it's super cool. the know is an oldish punk bar in northeast portland that has shows all the time. the alleyway is another punk bar down the street from the know. they rarely have shows, but if you wanna hang out, it's cool and cheap and they serve huuuge shots. good clientele.
there's a million other things going on. hit me up. i work at weird times, but i'd be down to get a beer or something if it works out. and i'll fill you in if i know of anything going on and give you some pointers on shit. it's a great town. you'll love it.

One last bump now that I'm back and this is what I found.
Travelers house is absolutely the best hostel I have ever spent any time. Good times with good people and at a good price, hell even the beds were more comfy than mine. Blue star donuts is absolutely stellar, and I took a couple back home to give to the girlfriend and it was great. Voodoo donuts had a line that I wasn't gonna wait on, but finding the fact that the one in downtown had a freakin porn theatre next to it was amazing. I heard it even has a roped section for sex in front of a bunch of guys.
The food out there was stellar and it was hard to even pick what to eat so I decided to eat small so I could eat more often. Lac Luc was really good, sweedeedee(sp?), lardo, all the halal carts, and I can't even remember everything but nothing was disappointed. I made sure to stay away from Mexican as being Mexican makes me hyper picky. I went to my first strip club at kit kat and it was kinda ridiculous.
Old town music was freaking great, and had an awesome vibe and selection. If I had the space I would've taken a sunn solarus that they had there, and if they have it in september that thing will be gone for sure. Secondly Control Voltage guys was so nice and helpful even though I was asking a billion and one questions. I purchased a intellijel dixie II and got to try a bunch more cool stuff that we don't have out here. I sadly couldnt get to Muffwiggler nor black book guitars in time as they both closed early.
I'm coming back in September and moving in January 1st. Thanks guys for all the recommendations you guys really help me fall in love with the town. Now I'm back in chicago in 30 degree weather and light snow/cloudy skies dreaming of skating the roads and going to cool shows in portland.
