Sounds cool! If nothing else, I'd love to hear it with different tone controls - maybe something that allows more control over the mids, so you don't have to be so scooped. In my perfect world, every pedal would have individual controls for lows, mids AND trebs.
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

Sorry. I was sure I'd written it. It's 50kB. 50k linear. Alpha 9mm. Metal D-shaft. PCB pins (though any type would do)

Oh I agree. I love TMB. However, it's already a 7 knobber. TMB would make it 9  I'd love to build a 9-knob pedal, but I think most people would be scared of it.

The Color control boosts mids (it actually boosts almost everything) and everyone else I asked said the single tone control is OK.

Well, clearly everyone else you asked is A TOTAL WUSS! :grumpy:

I kid, of course. Totally understand the knob-overload issue. Three rows of three doesn't seem like too much to me, but I like that level of control. As long as it doesn't cut the mids, the current setup sounds good to me. How does it handle bass geetarz?

Checked Small Bear but they're out of stock of a 50k. I had a 12mm 25k lying around so I used that.

Pedal sounds great. the oscillation is awesome and has lots of uses. Really cool

When you put it like that, it's only 3 rows of 3! It's doable, but probably overkill, since most people actually are wusses.

It handles bass lovely. It's now got the clean blend that bass players always ask for :thumb:

25k will work. It won't act the same as 50k though. 100k might be better if you've got that.

Yeah. I forgot my password and the reminder thing was annoying me so I signed up again and asked a mod to delete my other account. I'm still called Tim in real life though.

Hey Tim good to see you here.

I think adding TMB controls would be a cool addition or even just adding mid control. I am glad to hear you are contemplating releasing this circuit design. I look forward to it.

Hi! :hello: Do I know you?

A mids control could be done. It's purely the knob overload issue. It has so far:

Dirt Level - Drive - Boost - Tone - Feedback - Gate - Clean Level

(Drive is Gain, Boost is Color, Feedback is Reso)

If more tone options are desirable, I spose I'd swap the single tone for TMB, where they are based on the original response.

I was originally thinking of adding a second stomp switch to activate oscillation. I'm now thinking against it because it introduces complications. I was also thinking of having an expression input, but then realised that's not such a good idea r various reasons.

So, if it can be done in/on a sensible enclosure size, how about:

Dirt Level - Drive - Boost - Bass - Mids - Treble - Feedback - Gate - Clean Level

9 knobs? :idk:

So is the original basically a series of op-amps with symmetrical clipping, positive feedback and a muff tone-stack with a mids control?

I've been breadboarding a bunch of op-amp fuzzes and mods recently to try and work it out by ear and my theory was they started with an IC muff w/mids control and then started adding stages and feedback... I got pretty close with something I did recently.

Was my first pedal ever. Picked it up from an AMS clearance sale for like $65 when I was maybe 18 after reading the GP review of Zoom's Analog series. It was... a shock, but a fun one that my parents and friends *hated*. I acquired all four members of the series eventually, though, and got a ton of use out of them. Still play the UF and PD regularly.

The UF has been on my board consistently for about ten years. I only wish that the fuzz was a little less symmetrical, there was a bit more bass and.... that's probably about it actually.
