I don't drink anymore, but when I did, taking a shower never stopped me from having a beer. I used to think I was the only one to enjoy this, until I found the internet in 2006 and learned of my brethren showerholics.
When I did, and I had the choice of brews, then

Nowadays I am partial to smoking half a joint in the bathroom right before, and then finishing it when I get out.

i am so glad most people here appreciate the beauty of showerbeer.
i find basically any kind of golden or pale ale that isn't super shitty is adequately refreshing. it's really up to individual taste but the experience is what matters.

Well said! This evening I had a bath beer because my back was starting to hurt. It was not as enjoyable as a shower beer, but now I know.

Shower beer is fucking amazing.
It's kind of like smoking a cigarette for the first time where you get this little buzz that wears off.
Shower beers make you feel just a haze on things.
I like to drink cheap brews in the shower but I do not discriminate.

I fucking love a shower beer. You literally can never go wrong with one. I love shower Mojitos (in a sports bottle), and shower Gin and Tonics as well.
I think it's the cool beverage and the hot water/steam mix that makes the great combo. Think of it like a drink in a hot-tub, it just feels good and makes sense. Since you're surrounded by water but you don't drink any of it, naturally you just become thirsty, and a cool refreshing beverage is the just the thing to fix your thirst.

Fuck, I just showered, then read this. I even have an ipa laying around. Now I want to go back in there and do it the glorious way.

To be honest, I enjoy steamy hot showers and I wouldn't know how to do it without getting warm water in the beer, which must be pretty yuck right?
Or is it a question of turning on the shower, getting in there, openining up the bottle / can and finishing it completely in one go?
I wouldn't want to ruin a good beer, an ice cold cocktail / longdrink in a sports bottle seems like a better idea maybe.
Oh, the technicalities...

Have the beer in the soap rack and stick your head out from under the stream whenever you want a sip.
I used to be all over it when I was younger, but I haven't done it in years. I recommend lighters beers, such as IPAs. A stout or something would be yucky I reckon.

First time I ever had a shower beer, I was about 17, and I had Guinness

Was also under the influence of something else much stronger at the time...
The only other time I had shower beer was with a colt 45 or mickeys 40oz on a skate trip to ATL.
