Hello, my name is Vader and I'm an addict. Fuzz came into my life and everything became less clear. The friend of mine who introduced me to fuzz or pusher as he shall be called in this new context has a mathematical equation for the number of fuzz pedals you require
No. of Fuzz pedals = n+1 (n being the number you currently have) I do believe that this very simple equation however equates to just about anything guitar related.

That'll do it. Gotta say, I'm single and find it hard enough justifying this shit to my friends and family, let alone someone who might care even more that I'm not wasting all my money on little metal boxes.

True that, same here... ^
When people come into my house and see my gear they usually go something like "Woah, you got a lot of shit man!" and I'm just standing there with a questioning face thinking it's not that much really...

I'm lucky enough to be with someone who likes pedals as much as I do, more or less. My SO has a smaller set of pedals she uses with her keyboard, and she likes to sometimes grab a weird box off my shelf to make noise. Luckily I generally get most of my pedals through trades, so money has never been compromised.

I once dated a girl who at one point was actively planning to sell my collection "for my own good" and didn't expect me to find out. I kicked her out of my apartment soon after (approximately about a shitstorm and a half later.) In hindsight I see her point of view in seeing it like an addiction (she had a rough life dealing with other's) but that does not excuse in making damaging plans behind my back. :grumpy:

My fiance gets that I grab pedals with some sort of frequency, but she did also help me know when to stop for awhile and just make some damn music with the gear instead of just accumulating stuff. Understanding but firm. I think it works well. :)

Hell yeah! Kicking her arse out the door was definitely the right move. If she had of tried to talk to you first about your disease (one I also share) instead of going behind your back things might of turned out better. Glad you found someone is more open minded about it. :thumb:

Yeah I still live at home and my problem is explaining it to family, I just hope that I get packages when only I am home that way it's easy to slip past. If not I just say I traded for it
My girlfriend doesn't really get it but she accepts that it's something that makes me happy :idk: there's not much else I spend my $$$ on

Well, my point still stands : if anybody's lying to the person they're living with about something like buying music gear, they should reconsider the whole thing one way or another.

There's a world of difference between that and just living with someone who doesn't really get [all these music things that cost so many monies and that do not make you more productive musically] but basically has no real objection because it makes you happy. As long as you're not spending money you don't have or should be spending on something else, there's no problem there...

People who posted here do not seem to be in that first situation, so things should be ok :).

Anyway, I might be older than most people here so some situations might be different.
I feel like a grumpy old man sometimes when I read this forum... :whateva:

If You need the gear, buy it if You can afford it. If You actually need the gear, You'll find an arrangement even if the money's tight. And if You need it don't make excuses, everybody who counts anyway understands. And in a case they don't, do You really have to give a shit anybody says?

If You find yourself making excuses buying gear, are You sure You're not a compulsive buyer?

 yeah but I mean there's only so much money to go around and so many things you can really get into buying right?

If pedals and stuff weren't the first thing for my paychecks to be blown on then onto manga then clothes I would totally be spending that money on some perma-virgin grand collection of anime figures instead so I don't feel too bad. Need those consumerist impulses to keep more harmful ones in check

Haha, yeah man, I think I probably "therapy shop" a bit too often. Getting new shiny things showing up in the mail is exciting, always brightens up my day. I think that's one of the reasons why I stuck with the Graveface Records Club for so long, I didn't even have to do any work they just sent me shit and Ryan always included fun things.
