I saw the English Beat 6 times (well actually Dave Wakeling was the only original member left). Always an amazing show though. The one time I saw them, Lynval Golding of the Specials was actually on guitar that night. They opened and closed with Specials songs, playing 4 Specials songs total:


1. A message to you Rudy
2. Do Nothing
3. Monkey Man
4. Enjoy Yourself

^What a treat that was! If I remember correctly, it wasn't even know to us before the show that Lynval was going to be there. He just came out and the crowd went wild.

This was always the highlight of the night....always got the biggest crowd reaction. Really needs to be seen live to get the full effect as the bass throb was sweet.

This song was the highlight of the set when I saw them in '93. I am sure you can see why. One of their best.

Holy shit, haven't listened to this album in fucking years. The band I was in when I was 18 opened up for them in Denton, TX in 90' or 91'. I remember this song being so menacing and powerful. I love that singer and guitar player. Really sweet dudes.

Yeah, menacing for sure. Especially live. Definitely a riff I wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley.

That is awesome that you got to play with them back in the early days.
