But that is what makes alcohol so cool! It's a culturally acceptable poison that over centuries we have developed into something mildly palatable. We turned a poison into a beloved art. Most people literally MAKE themselves like it ("an aquired taste") through peer pressure or cultural norms. I personally don't even find getting anywhere beyond slightly drunk that pleasurable, plenty of other (more interesting, cheaper and safer) illegal drugs I would prefer before grabbing a beer.

Not to say I avoid it, I love me some fucking whisky, it's just alcohol and drinking culture is anthropologically pretty bizarre.

This is me, mostly.

But I think these days I seldom drink to be drunk so I don't often end up in a stupid position. If I throw up it's because I know it'll make me feel better and that it's my own stupid fault for drinking more than I should have. Usually happens if I'm drinking wine.

I never got into drinking earlier in my youth like most of my peers. Beer still tastes like piss to me and stronger stuff is straight up horrible. Beer and most alcohol is usually pretty unhealthy and also expensive. I like pot more, and it's cheaper. But I have enjoyed the few times I've been drunk

I enjoy beer, but usually the beer I like most is stupid expensive so not really worth it other than special occassions. Pot and Psychadelics are more preferred experieces, and more preferred on my finances.

i didn't know 'dry counties' existed either until i searched it ten minutes ago. i thought prohibition was abolished in the 1930s. that's retarded. and seems highly hypocritical to me that uncle sam is risking american soldiers' lives in far flung corners of the planet to 'promote' its particluar variety of exploitative free-market capitalism (you'll find it in the processed-meat aisle under the brand-name 'freedom') and yet when those same soldiers return home and want to celebrate not getting killed with a beer they are told they can only have coke or pepsi. that's muslim law and you've been had. land of the free...

as to the pot is healthier than alcohol argument, i think that's possibly true of grass until you roll it into a cigarette with tobacco, and then it's as bad for you as smoking. but resins and block are probably far worse.
if you are buying a lump of something dark in a car park at 4am from 'freaky frankie who knows a guy...' its highly likely it doesn't meet minimum requirements for rat poison, let alone something you intend to inhale into your bloodstream.
that said, if you are buying it from a soldier just back from afghanistan it's probably the cleanest and best there is to be had. call that poetic justice.

personally i don't do anything. never found anything that enabled me to do what i do better than when i am straight. if i did i'd probably end up an addict (supposing i could finance it that far). but if you've found your thing, keep doing it.

I used to hate fucking puking. I do not miss that shit at all. I've had alcohol poisoning a few times. The worst time I threw up blood and went straight to drinking again. I almost died that night. Probably lived because of the meth.
