Yeah, the SwirlPool is something I've considered. I've listened to a few demos of it, haven't really heard a good one. I'm still interested.

Yeah, Leslie sims and Uni-Vibes aren't really all that similar. I think I actually prefer Leslie sims. I'd like a little more low end response though. Hence my half-hearted investigation of vibes. We'll see if I can find what I'm listening for. I may eventually switch my search over to regular phasers. The only vibe I've tried recently was the Black Cat and while I thought it sounds great, it isn't the sound I want to hear.

I listened to some MonoVibe demos earlier today and they sounded pretty good. I may keep my eyes open for a nicely priced used one.

From your description, I'm also still interested in the Paisley Tubby. I'm disappointed to hear your report that it isn't that deep sounding though. :(

I think I'm also gonna keep my eyes open for a VT Trem. :snax: I need to start saving some $ for these.

I'm real tempted to get one, myself. The price is right.

I just thought it was uninspiring and a bit thin sounding, I expected a lot more for the price tag.
If you like a thinner and more airy sounding vibe than it's probably the best of those though (Deja Vibe, Jim Dunlop Uni Vibe, Micro Vibe, Voodoo Vibe), at least that's what I would have said before having heard the Paisley Tubby Vibra Fuzz, I think the voicing on it is better / more pleasant, my only gripe with it is that it doesn't get that deep.
Before I heard the new Black Cat Vibe and the Mono Vibe I was completely in love with the old Black Cat Vibe which was much deeper, fatter and more throbby sounding than the Voodoo Vibe, the old one was noisy as fuck though and unfortunately the new one doesn't quite have the same fat and liquid feeling as the old one, it's way too plingy in the mid highs for me.

No problem, I like doing this kind of stuff. :D

Yup, the demo's of the SwirlPool leave quite a lot to be desired, that's also why I said it probably wasn't for me but you can never be completely sure until you tried it though.

Did you ever try running a (deep) low end booster after the leslie sim?

With the Mono Vibe for a vibe you can't go wrong I think, it works on pretty much everything, clean, dirt, whatever you throw at it, also it's not as noisy as some other vibes.

Yup, that's my only gripe with the Paisley Tubby Vibra Fuzz, maybe he can mod it to have more effect in the low end though, I don't know, I'd also try to get one without the fuzz as it would be an even smaller footprint and the fuzz, while sounding good, isn't something I'd use much I think.

The VT Trem, quirky but awesome it is.

Thanks for the info. Yes for the money it costs I would expect a lot from it too.

FWIW I have the Swirlpool and it is one of my favorite pedals. I don't really know how it compares to others though.

Oh, cool, you have one of those, nice one!
Care to share your thoughts on it a bit if possible?

Thanks, rustywire, I'm pretty set with the Ventilator in terms of Leslie sims. Yeah, it's not perfect and there're a bunch of quirks I need to work around, but the gorgeous sound more than makes up for it.

Yeah, I do run pedals that boost bass after the Ventilator. It helps, but not as much as I'd like. I like bassier sounding pedals better in general anyway.

As far as the Paisley Tubby, asking Leon if he can mod it for more bass is a good idea. I just might do that.

Yeah, I'd be interested in hearing more of what you think about that one too, Nora. :snax:

No prob :thumb:
Ventilator looks really cool, as does the mini Vent.

I've been GAS-wanting a Sweetsound Ultra Vibe v1. The black one.
Mostly because the speed knob is on the left, which is the foot I'd use when not expression pedal treadling.
But I suppose I'd be just as happy with the v2 purple one

Curious to hear how dat throb compliments my Effectrode Phase-O-Matic Deluxe...which has (up to) a full 720° of phasing...and is my #1 modulation/comb-filter effect. ESPECIALLY when used manually like a wah.
Dat sweep :snax:

@rusty:
I remember when we were doing this vibe shootout me and Uni both specifically mentioned the Mojo Vibe as in not liking that one much, I think that one's also by Sweetsound, right?
I don't know what the differences are, if any, but the Mojo Vibe was really middy sounding to my ears, it didn't really have the deep throb in the low end like I'd expect from a vibe nor the more phaser like airy sweep like some of the other ones mentioned have, it's a bit of a weird one but not really in a good way in my opinion, for what it's worth.

We did try Uni's OG Phase-O-Matic and that one was awesome, completely different but awesome, I can't even imagine what the Deluxe is like, it must be off the charts, they're out of production though unfortunately.

@Chank:
He also seems to be making another vibe pedal called the Tubby Swirl but I don't know how much it differs from the vibe in the Vibra Fuzz:

Thanks, guys.

Yeah, Tristan, I vaguely remembered he builds a stand alone vibe as well. I'll have to shoot him a message when I have a chance to ask about 'em.

Ultra Vibe & Mojo Vibe are 2 different beasts.
The Ultra is more-or-less a 1:1 Uni Vibe with the same specs/component types throughout the circuit (especially the photocells, their layout and the square metal enclosure), footswitchable chorus/vibrato modes and expression pedal option in addition to the Speed knob. It's also powered via iec power cord/internal transformer.
Image

The Mojo vibe uses standard 9V power and has a different circuit and component selection to realize it; and allow for the smaller enclosure size.
Image

I've heard both sound quite good via videos...I just apparently have a thing for big pedals, oem, 1:1 stuff I guess :idk:
Also IDK if there's a charge pump in the Mojo, but I do know the Ultra runs at higher voltage like the original Uni.

Here's a great shootout which really brings across why I think all the Vibes played in this video sound shitty, in real life they sound exactly like this to me:

The only thing that sounds good to me in that video is the Doppelganger but it's not really a vibe.
On the slow settings the vibes in the video all just cut the thickness in the midrange of the guitar sound, some even in the low end, which makes them sound nasal and plingy, especially when played clean, the Voodoo Vibe might seem to sound like a "real" vibe until you really put a real one like the Mono Vibe or Tube Vibe next to it, no comparison, but that's just my take on it.
