This is good stuff and I just ordered that first cd. Do you know any other similar stuff?

Also, here is a good balinese chant/drone. I have a 20 minute version of this on cd. This one is only 10 minutes for some reason.

Yeah, I love that snake charmer stuff, Nora.

It seems those Nath Family records were marketed more towards the hip record store crowd, but if you look, you can find lots of droney folk music from the sub-continent. Sublime Frequencies may have something, I can't really remember. There are also plenty of ethnographic records.

Flutes of Rajasthan is a good one. Not snake charmer's pipes (pungi), but includes other drone flutes. Not easy to find, but well worth it.

The Mystic Fiddle Of The Proto-Gypsies, while horribly titled, is a fantastic example of string instrument-based trance music from Baluchistan.

You can search for "pungi" or "been" two of the names for the snake charmer's pipes and should be able to find some stuff.

I'm also a big fan of bagpipe music. There's some great stuff to be heard from those instruments (and not even from only the British Isles).
