Oh, this may be relevant. Anyone know a good cheap way to get that creepy blues sound on vocals? A cheap reverb maybe? Maybe some kind of OD. I Have a mic with a 1/4 inch jack and a PA amp. Could I just have a little effects chain like I would with an instrument, or would I need something else?

I run my mic through a pedalboard separate from my instrument one with reverb, a cheap FAB echo, and a DS1. It works for that.

Reviving this because I'm picking up an electric mandolin very soon.

I never actually got the project off the ground, but hella delay, vibe, and reverb make my day on it. Any slow modulation is also really awesome sounding. As far as fuzz and dirt goes, shit gets harsh and feedbacky really quickly and not always in a pleasant way.
That said, I'm probably picking up a lap steel soon and my recording capabilities have gotten way better so I'll probably make it a thing soon.

I played one through a marshall combo and it sounded like some Botanist shit. So cool. Thinking it would sound great into a clean amp with some delay and some distortion with a blend control a la The Elements. Would have bought it if the damn thing could keep in tune. I'm on the look out for some electric mandolins now though, anyone know of any reliable and affordable models?

You dudes need to post some tracks when you're ready.
Very keen to hear.

This.
For the longest time now I've wanted to build an 'Electric Colombian Tiple'. 21-1/2" scale, 12 strings in four courses of three strings tuned to D4D4D4 G4G4G4 B4B4B4 E4E4E4. Mainly to try and do some south american/Andean psych/doomy folk/rock. This thread reminded me I should do this soon.

This is a great idea, I'll have to pick one up. Pair it with my echo dream and my mf drive...
