Elites. It's an us-vs.-them situation, and owning/flaunting ones' Google Glasses (I refuse to call them "glass") is a "fuck you, I got mine" gesture. The more hate they get, the more pride they feel. The divide between the classes is getting broader and broader, and good taste and self-awareness have gone out the window.

Yeah. And it seems to me so much of the smartphone market is all about this. Everywhere I see adults with grade-school level toy pride.
