This. Hi, long time lurker and console contributor here. If I felt like the 40G's had actually gone to the project I wouldn't as irritated. The red flags were abundant when the video game development talk started just a few weeks after the kickstarter ended. I feel like half the budget went to the console and the other half went to starting a new business, hobby, whatever. Anyway, my fault for not looking into her track record. I was really blown away by the presentation and all of the great builders who had "signed on" to develop carts. Now I have to decide if I want devi peds or my money back. Probably will take the pedals since I know they exist.

If you're after a refund, I'd reply immediately and keep after it but it seems very unlikely. That's quite a bit of ca$h to pay back with no legal obligation esp considering she used it for personal expenses on the first go around...

I just sent out the email with proof of funding and asked for my money back.

Kickstarter REALLY needs to have some sort of mandatory course on how to run a campaign. I'ver seen a shitton of projects get funded only to have them delayed or fall through completely because the people running the project didn't do their research on getting things produced, or managing money, or generally just running a business or even just losing interest in the whole thing and dropping out. I figured someone who's been in the pedal industry for so long would have the experience and know-how to get shit done and wouldn't have squandered that much money. So it goes. I didn't put any money into it....good luck to whoever did.

Geez, I'm glad i couldn't afford to contribute when this was first announced.

It was a pretty cool idea, i wouldn't be surprised if someone who actually knows what they're getting themselves into decides to give it another shot some day.

Honestly, if I had any skin in this game, I'd take the pedals, even if I didn't want them, and then just resell them. Yes, you're going to take a loss by reselling them, but at least you're getting SOME money.

Look at it this way: her personal finances are fucked up badly enough that she ended up having to take 20 grand of capital out of her business just to get by. Do you really think she's going to have the surplus kicking around to start refunding people? I doubt it.

Any side bets on who the buyer of DEFX is? JHS? Billy Corgan?
