Thanks! I'll take that as a compliment.

Probably the most productive thing I did in Web Design class. Did not know making simple GIFs in Photoshop was so easy :yay:

it wasn't meant as a compliment, but take it however you want to. wasn't meant as an insult either.

I figured, but that's exactly the goal of it. I originally used it as the background of a web page that I had to present to the class as a joke. Thankfully my professor had a sense of humor about it.

Well after some rethinking (there's no chance I'll play even a house show around here) I decided to stick with tubes and still get something more powerful than my Special 6. Demo'd an Orange OR-15 and fell in love. Found one on the local CL for a solid price and picked it up today.

Sadly I'm still on the cab hunt so I can't blast it quite yet :(

Probably picking up that cheap Sunn Concert Bass for my bass needs in the near future.

So I'm bumping this since my needs have changed.

I'm working with a new project and need and amp that can stay clean and louder for some post-rock and shoegaze styled stuff, the OR-15 just won't cut it so I'm selling. I'm using just 1x15 cab so I'm just looking for head that:

-Is loud enough to play over a drummer, completely clean.
-Flexible EQ, I want to dial in extremely thick and fuzzy bassy sounds as well as super trashy treble-heavy tones. I have a Sparkle Motion for treble boosting so my first priority is finding something super thick with a shit ton of low end.
-Costs under $600

I've been scouring some Sunns on eBay but don't really know which model to go for and don't really know what else to look at :idk:

Sovtek Mig50. I ran it through your cab before Brandon shipped it out and it was great. You MIGHT want to get a little bit higher rated speaker if you are wanting to get a louder head though, just personal preference but I don't like getting close to whatever the speaker is rated. 50 is too close to a single 75w speaker in my book, but damn if it didn't sound great. The LOW channel on the Mig stays almost completely clean up until the end of the dial. Plus if you ever want amp gain you can just plug into the HI input. I think there are a few Migs on Ebay right now for $400-600. Depending on the condition I'd hold out and see if you can't find one for around $400. The only thing I've had to replace (thus far) is tubes (my fault) and an output jack.

Sunns are great loud clean amps, but the prices they are going for now is just kind of dumb.

+1 on the SovTek. Check the RedBear 60 Watters, too.

Well shit theres a Mig50 on CL for $500 that comes with a Marshall 1912 cab w/ a 150w speaker. Might have to go check that out.

If loud and clean is what you want, a Sunn Concert Lead would be a pretty affordable option. Occasionally you'll see someone trying to sell one for like $500, but if you wait around one will show up at a more realistic price. They get crazy loud and since they are solid state, will never distort if you don't want it to. The tone is big and ballsy, and if you use a Big Muff style fuzz with it you will be treated to a huge/crushing sound.

As much as i love my RedBear mk60.....its not terribly loud. A Beta Lead would be fantastic and i can attest to just how loud and bassy the Bugera 1960 can get

There was a concert and beta lead on my CL a few months ago, should not have passed on them

Fender Dual Showman. Basically a Twin in head format
-100W, but switchable down to 25
-Dual channel, fx loops
- Hard to find, but when you do they're usually cheap. There's two of them for $400 on the GC used site right now.
