Our manager hates them [and pretty much all good music... he actually likes Nickle back, creed slipknot and Ratt...] so when he is gone we tend to play the shit that we don't play as much because he is a irritant.
Slipknot is tolerable, but the other bands make me want to shove my thumbs into my eyes.
Do you think you'd like that, do ya? You MOTHERFUCKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which era of Floyd are we talking about?
'Cause, you know, Dark Side... longest charting album of all time... 7 billion million kajillion albums sold.
The Atom Heart Mother suite... maybe not.
I don't know if I've ever met anyone who actively disliked Queen or The Who, though.
Ginger Baker is the best drummer of all time. Non-negotiable.

This has been in my head all day...and people have been pissing me off all day...and I got a large mocha for FREE (which was awesome) but it got top-heavy in the cup holder in the work car and I lost THE ENTIRE FUCKING THING!!!
I nearly went fucking hulk after that.
Asking me if I've ever been there...
Yeah!
Meddle/Pompei era is my personal fav. Plenty of good shit all round though.

I'm not talking about records sold. I'm talking about mass, wide appeal, from chavs to jazz snobs, metal heads to hipsters. Queen, at least here in Ireland, are far more known than Pink Floyd. They play Queen remixes at clubs for goodness sake, along with whatever bullshit is popular at the moment. Everyone and their dog knows and loves Bohemian Rhapsody.

I thought I already agreed that I didn't know anyone who disliked Queen?
But few bands are more "known" than Pink Floyd.

Yeah, you did. I'm just clarifying my original statement. Maybe things are different in the States than here in Ireland.

...I don't think Johnny Rotten would've gotten away with an I Hate Queen shirt.

Woah, I've never seen that t-shirt until now. What a mad thing to put on a t-shirt. Shine on you crazy Rotten.

Now that's mental.
I'd say that Queen and the Floyd co-exist in the AOR radio universe. Queen has more stadium-sport presence, and I think just a friendlier licensing policy in general.

The long, trippy songs and their earlier work with Syd Barret puts off some people here in Ireland. They're not as radio-friendly as Queen. For me Pink Floyd are encapsulated the most... 'accurately' with huge opuses like Shine On You Crazy Diamond, which is only played in segments on the radio from time to time, and Comfortably Numb, where the DJ's cut short the two minute solo. Queen was also always easier to dance to and is therefore popular at clubs and events. With that said, Pink Floyd in the UK are known just as much as Queen or The Who, if not more. Ireland never took to them as they did Queen, at least from my perspective.

I'd say 90% of people in the US ONLY know the hit stuff off of dark side, wish you were here and the wall anything older then dark side or maybe meddle and you get a "what the fuck is that?" Which I think is sad because dark side is when they decided to suck
