Comparing "an android phone" to an iPhone is exactly like comparing any PC to any Mac. Is any Mac "better" than any PC? There are so many variables that it's not really a fair question.

Android's advantage and disadvantage are the same from a marketing stand point: it's on everything.

3GS? Antiquated. That phone is, what, like 4 years old? Well -- it will be 4 years old this fall. Any current smart phone would shit on that -- especially with iOS 6 on the device. That's like running Windows 8 on your 6 year old PC.

When the 3GS went free it unleashed flood gates. Every two years when I'm eligible to upgrade my phone I buy the current generation of whatever phone I want, it will generally last two years.

I prefer Mapquest.
That's a good one, too.

I agree completely. Expect that the mac phone and pc phone are of similar price points where they are arguable higher on Apple's side in the PC realm

Again, it depends. A 3GS is not the same price as an HTC One. An off-contract iPhone is not the same price as a Nexus 4 straight from Google.

The original comment mainly came from people who say things like "I had a Droid and it sucked." Like a guy at work yesterday. He clearly had an HTC One Mini. I asked if it was the One (not being sure at the time), and he pointed to his phone and said "No, it's the HTC."

It's like people I've talked to who think a Squire is a type of Fender in the same way a Strat is.

I just get annoyed when Android's rep is hurt by people who couldn't even tell you what device they have/had.

Yes, I'm a fan boy.

In the same way I get annoyed who have to say in every Devi thread, "Her stuff all sounds the same/broken/bad." Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion, but don't allow your ignorance to influence someone else when there are experts in the same area.

Just to be clear, I have no problem with anyone buying an iPhone. If you want to use your phone to make music, you probably should.

I agree with all that. On Sprint the iPhone 5 is the same price as the One.
Also I'm LOVING the One. Best phone I've owned by far.
