It wouldn't surprise me. There was a crazy amount of oscillator bleed through on my malekko vibrato

Re: NPD!! Malekko 616 Dark
Well... it IS a really great delay. Like every other aspect of it sounds really good. And it's only to hold a place until I can find a DMM at a good price.
I think the pros outweigh the cons, really. I went back to it after sonidero CHASTISED me and was really satisfied with all the sounds I could get. It's really crispy and bright, and I know a lot of people don't like that with delay, but I love it. It's the reason I chose the 616 over the Carbon Copy.
I already have a TB loop because my old Big Muff isn't true bypass, so I'll probably cram this in there too. Otherwise it's going to be in the FX loop of my TASCAM 4-track, so it will always be on anyway, rendering any bypass noise issues moot.
WELP.

Well, you made a good point about that bypass oscillation not really mattering. I'm pretty ANAL SEX about stuff like that, but I'm trying to learn to ask myself if it really matters, and I don't think it does. The bypass loop is an easy solution so who cares? I got the 616 brand new for $120 or so, and that's a far cry from a Supa Puss or DMM.

I just cant do those tiny knobs everyone's obsessed with... Just make 'em secondary functions a la El Cap...CBA wrote:I'm pretty ANAL SEX about stuff like that, but I'm trying to learn to ask myself if it really matters, and I don't think it does. C

They serve a necessary function on the 616. I don't know if you can do "secondary function" with analog, can you? A knob is a knob.

Re: NPD!! Malekko 616 Dark
More thoughts on the 616 Dark? I'm interested.
The 616 mkII sounds great. I've found a sweet spot for the modulation speed and depth, and everything sounds lovely and flowing. Then I turn the mod off, and it sounds even better. Then I turn the mod back on and it sounds even better than THAT!

Re: NPD!! Malekko 616 Dark
Wait, you can hear oscillation when the pedal is bypassed?
WTF
On the echo 600 pedals you can toggle the DRY/WET output (B) to either stop on a dime or trail off.
Are you saying there are trails or carrier noise when the pedal itself is bypassed but the modulation is engaged?
Or is it just when you've set it to self-oscillate and then bypass? Plz elaborate.
*RAMBLING THREAD DERAILER ALERT*
Also what's a "decent" price on a DMM? Bought (a vintage '81) one last spring for $300 on feebay via BIN.
No box or paperwork, just the cosMEHtically roughish pedal with the *less desirable* hockey puck knobs.
It was the most expensive pedal I had purchased at the time, and after our first year together...see this being til death do us part.
It was worth every last moogerfoogin cent and I'd do it again without hesitation. Probably for more.
But I thought it was a deal at the time and still think it was a deal, in hindsight.
Snatched it up real quick, with lucky timing...it had only been listed for 20 min.
I paid without ever hearing it, quite a risk to take...especially with vintage....and maybe even more so with EHX.
Don't be afraid to ask a seller for insight and tell them what kind of gear you have/use and how you like to play.
Obviously their word isn't to be taken as gospel, but chance favors the prepared mind.
Anyway, back on topic...
My own 616 Dark should be arriving tomorrow.
I'll add some insight to the thread after comparing with an E600B...and the DMM. But that's probably not a fair comparison...

Should be good2go on that temp trade this week, and this might just be the prime opportunity; for comparative purposes.wfs1234 wrote:Hopefully mine'll be here tomorrow too. I couldn't resist after my latest salerustywire wrote:My own 616 Dark should be arriving tomorrow.

Awesome. I should be good to go on the trade after Tuesday. I'm recording with the band and we like to use the dmmtt550 with the ring thing in the effects loop for the rhythm guitar's clean tone.
No 616D today
hopefully tomorrow!

What I mean is that if you turn REGEN to max and TIME to min, you get oscillation. RIGHT?
So but then when you turn the pedal off, bypass, you can still hear a faint squealing oscillation and can control it with the knobs.
At least I can spell "oscillation" without a blink.

p.s. It's a great delay, the 616 mkII, and I plan on keeping it until I find a DMM. I played with it for two hours straight yesterday, and it's just a really fun and clear-sounding analog delay.
