there's something slightly unsettling about celebrating the US victory in the Revolutionary War by 1.) blowing shit up and 2.) feasting on slightly charred meat. you could have a great Zombie Independence Day costume party.

Got to celebrate with friends of friends who were wonderfully welcoming and accommodating despite the fact that we were basically total strangers. Kids played in the pool all day (like literally seven hours straight), and all of the adults were pleasant company and jerk-free. We left before it got too dark, and drove past at least five sets of fireworks on the way home. 'Twas a good day.
