BUT.... i lived in Berkeley for about 10 years. moved to Richmond Hills about 5 years ago. so much happier paying about half the rent for a 1.7 bedroom house instead of the 1 bedroom 8 unit apartment. it's only like a 10 minute drive to spots i want to go to and.... y'know.... money for TOYS.

Yup. Rent in berkeley for anything near campus was crazy $$$...especially for what you were getting. I was constantly reminded of this fact because my friend went to Merced, which was hit hard by the housing crash. Each year, he and his friends were able to rent brand new, 2 story homes, and his share was way less than what I was paying for my shitty 1 bedroom apt.

hah. i gots family in TN. the ones i talk to LURV telling me how a 19 bedroom house is like $14 a month.
