Slayer is right up there with the most important band in my life.
Crushed. Hope he is shredding, wherever he ends up.

Yeah, I'm a Seasons in the Abyss guy, and I was blasting that shit last night, much to my wife's annoyance.

He was the coolest member by far.
Saw them play to a packed basketball stadium on the Seasons tour (headlining the "Clash of the Titans" tour w/AIC, Megadeth and Anthrax) and it was scary how into it everyone was.
So much power in the air, you could feel it. Couldn't not feel it.
Huge pits everywhere, 10-12 going at once. Wildest shit I've ever seen at a show.

Reign in Blood, blasted it at the office, oddly enough my co-worker didn't even mind.

Hey that happened in my house, too!
My Slayer marathon has included Seasons in the Abyss, Show No Mercy, Live Undead, and South of Heaven. Later today probably World Painted Blood and Undisputed Attitude, then I'll go through the rest before ending with either Reign in Blood or Decade Of Aggression.
A fucking legend is gone. So many memories as a teenager, less as an adult, but still always a part of me. I drank a Heineken to him last night. I don't even like that beer, but for once the bitterness was appropriate.

I lucked into an original pressing of Haunting The Chapel a year or two ago.
Wearing my turntable out as we speak.

I put Seasons of the abyss, Diablolus In Musica, Divine intervention and Undisputed attitude on shuffle no one minded either... I'm sure for most it was a nice break from all the Blackmetal,Type O and Joy Division I've been playing all week

When I was a kid I drove a car, while high on acid... frequently. Between me and the owner of the car (who had no license, making me driver by dafault) we had three tapes. We had 'It Takes a Nation of Millions' we had 'South of Heaven' and we had 'Best of Simon and Garfunkel'. Only one of these tapes seemed to be capable of grounding me, making me capable of driving in this altered state, thank you Jeff and Co. for very likely saving not only my own life, but the lives of other drivers and pedestrians. Good night, sweet prince.

i'm shepherding a dear friend of mine who's visiting Chicago for her mom's 90th birthday around to various events; i was out tonight with her, Mom, her three sisters, and various other folks and raised a Heineken towards the ceiling and said "here's to you, Jeff, wherever you are."
