I hate batteries in pedals. They're inconvenient, you never know which ones are dead, I like having everything hooked up to one power supply... If I got something that only had batteries I'd really not like it and might shift it just for that reason. Or, y'know, use a battery clip.

For things that have batteries I don't mind not having an LED to save life.

This thread gave me nightmares about only using batteries, and unscrewing back plates, and trying not to break the wires to the battery snaps while trying to pry off a battery determined to stay on the snap. I had to find multiple screwdrivers because apparently the builder uses a different screw for each place on the back plate... it was the worst.

this is something I wanted to know but didn't ask so thanks for the info. if the battery snap is not in use, it is a good idea to put tape on it so it doesn't mess up your power supply for your whole pedal board :grumpy: but do you think it is kinda weird to open up a new pedal and find tape inside?
psychedelicrelic wrote:Someone should figure out a cheap way to charge a NiHM battery in the pedal while its plugged in. Never hurts to have a back up power source.

a good idea but it would increase the cost and may destroy the pedal if it charges an alkaline battery. you could have a switch to disable charging but then we are getting away from the "if its no problem, add this"

I know my preference is to use a visual sound one spot for everything except maybe the germanium fuzz face and the germanium rangemaster. how about you? also, on a battery powered pedal, would you rather have an LED or longer battery life if you had a choice?

to me and this might sound silly but unless there is a battery door I won't use a battery unless I have to... and even then I rarely would use them..

I always add them just in case, who know when a power supply is gonna blow and you've no spare so you get a 9V battery in a corner store and the show goes on. No battery snap means no back up. That said I rarely if ever use them myself.

the only time i use batteries is for my Sound Shank, which as a Buzzaround-based unit is reverse polarity to everything and can't be daisy-chained. i prefer the sound of a battery in my Tone Reaper, but not so much that i'm willing to deal with pulling the input plug every time i turn off the board. there are things i just couldn't run off batteries, particularly the RV-3 which eats batteries like M&Ms...i'd go broke.

that's another multi-TWSS..."batteries are a pain," "i can never keep track of which ones are dead," and "dude, put your tongue on them." it's like Meta TWSS.

The only time I use batteries is for Ragemasters, but I want to build a charge pump so I don't have to worry about it. I've really only used 1 battery powered pedal in the past few years

No battery for me.
But in case I have to use a battery, an on/off switch is more than welcome.

the only time i ever really think about a battery is when i'm going like out in the woods to make music.

otherwise, theres pretty much always some juice around to plug it into.

Power supply all day. I don't like/use/own any positive-ground pedals so it's not even an issue.
