I don't remember that. Last I remember, Justin timberlake took it over and is turning it into purely an artist/fan social network. I got a beta invite but I couldn't sign up as an artist yet.

Let me star by saying I know very little about Facebook or how it works but maybe the $1
fee for messaging someone you aren't friends with is a way to slow down spammers?

I know if Tom charged $1 to make your first post (not that I think that's a good idea) we'd NEVER see a bot.

that would have been a dream. if i was already at the airport i could have lived in a state of constant buzzing ignorance and met my demise instantly. even in my brick fortress of my apartment it would have laughed off the onslaught of the less the expertly piloted cessna 152. but no, i had to be in bucks, at my parents house, a plywood and vinyl siding coffin. i was granted a view of the plane banking and diving at my window and got into the fetal position to kiss my ass goodbye. i heard the dude firewall the throttle and they screamed over the house (as much as a Lycoming engine can scream). the UPS dude said he could have hit him with a snowball. the funny thing is, i recognized the plane from the local flight school and i'm pretty sure i've flown it

That's pretty crazy.

One time when I was kid a helicopter crashed in the street right in front of my house. My mom wouldn't let me go outside. Funny thing is, my dad knew the pilot from when they were both in the National Guard. Luckily, no one was seriously injured.
