Re: Controls for an envelope filter?
Brian have you played Subdecay's Proteus? I was/am shocked at how many sounds you can get out of two knobs. I'm still of the opinion that more knobs = more better, but man...
Depth
Up/down
maybe something to move the centre of the frequency sweep
clean blend
stupid throw it out there idea: dirty blend - so the wubs are clean but the clean is lofi and gritty.

yeah, you are right. but a special dedicated mode for fixed without exp would be tits

Yeah totally! My exp pedal isn't great at staying on a single setting anyway because it always moves a bit as soon as I take my foot off, so proper fixed modes on things that can have them is nice.

Prometheus is cool, but quite an unruly beast. Has some serious peaking issues. A differently thought out filter that had some of the ideas of it wouldn't be a bad thing.

Dude, I'm sure you could throw your own spin on it. It's like not putting out fuzz because Dunlop has the Fuzz Face.
Moar filterz!

can you elaborate on those issues? just curious.

I should couch this by saying, I've heard this from other people, I have not experienced it myself. I think behndy might be one of those people. But on the other hand I think its one of Excane's favorite pedals.
I think there is a reason you don't see these on a lot of bass player's boards though.

Re: Controls for an envelope filter?
Yeah, the Prometheus would be awesome...if it had any sort of volume control or a blend...but it doesn't, so you get huge bassy volume spikes. It blows. I like the reverse-cowgirl blend idea..clean bassyness and some sort of gritty "clean"...keeping those lower frequencies not so dirty is YES.
Fixing the filter is just as simple as turning the sensitivity down to zero. I hope this filter will have that capability (a la Xerograph Deluxe).
yeaaah..I kinda think all these would be nice to have. you could...proobably nix the intensity, if anything? Or like suggested earlier..even toggles (2way is aight, 3way would be sick, if doable) for a lot of these might help on saving pedalfacespace. ...you might need an array of trimpots or dipswitches?
If there's expression jack for the cutoff..it'll be dope. I can't really think of what other controls I'd use an expression pedal for. Except nowadays kids are getting all modular and shit with EXP and it's turning into synths ON THE FLOOR. Only a few people I know that like bending over that much (:cough: behndy :cough:). Someone can explain this to me, if they feel compelled.
'BOUT TIME, SS/BS FILTER.

+1 to expression jack cutoff.
With all the other controls previously mentioned, should be a hellagoodtime filter.

It would also be in a bigger enclosure than the Poly-Grace.

That's fine with me... a filter with all those controls would earn its space on my board.

This is true. It would see more use from me IF I was into filters the way I used to be.
I just don't use them that much for most of what I play nowadays. It's a seriously delicious box.

i don't want it to be in a huge enclosure!
