i live in bend, oregon.
bend is in central oregon and is basically a little aspen, colorado. yuppies, skiing, douchebaggery. as for music, buy a stand up bass and you'll fit in just nice! fucking shitty folk-steampunk acts around every corner, and a scourge of really shitty "black" metal. anywhere central to eastern oregon is gonna blow, with culture ranging from yuppie to deliverance style ignorance. they areas west of the cascades are nice, the coastal region,the eugene area, and the portland area. there are a couple cities in southern oregon that are ok like medford and ashland, but they suck compared to the portland area. we have killer weed and a shit ton of really nicely built skateparks throughout oregon which kicks ass! if you are gonna move i'd go straight for the portland area its for surely the hub of culture here. and you can walk into PGS and boss those fuckers around!
oh yeah, portlandia fuckin blows. god comedy sucks nowadays.

I can understand the people ruining it for you, but Bend is beautiful.

I've always wanted to go to Eugene and buy a lake house or something with the views of mountains, and evergreen trees, and a balcony where I could put a wall of Sunn and just jam until the mountain near my fictional lake house crumbled to the floor of the lake.

There are cool places in Oregon but they are scattered amongst the homogenized crap that floats everywhere else. Places that are unique only too Oregon are going to be the hiking trails, the coast, some of the college towns and a few shops here and there.
For specifics? I personally like Corvallis, Tillimook, Gerabaldi, Rockaway, Bend, and parts of Downtown.
