I love my fenders but I haven't ever purchased one new and I haven'e actually bought one since 1999

Fenders with matching headstocks just seem wrong to me

The problem with squiers being the solution is that new a good squier costs what a mexican strat did a few years ago,

They need to Fuck Off about the bottom line as RR said and not listen to what GC or SA want and listen to what their customers want... One look around the interwebs in the past 5 years would have revealed that peeps want they offsets and not much more... I think the Pawn Shop series was a waste and they should have focused on just making more of the shit that people are searching for in the used Fender market that even they admit is stronger than the new Fender market... All this about EDM killing the market is hogwash and seems like a pretty pathetic excuse... EDM has been around since the 70's... The authors of both articles can SUCK IT for writing that lameness...

RR Bigman wrote:I may be completely off the mark here, but part of the issue may be the"new" business school method of only the bottom line matters. Without getting into the merits of either outlook, I think a "the final product and customer satisfaction are all that Matter may be what's needed...or maybe the market isn't ready for that just yet. I flunked econ 101 cut me some slack :idk:

The approach you mention is doable, but not when you owe some bank 250 million dollars next year (as mentioned in the article). Heritage Guitars is probably a good example of a customer first model, but they probably don't have a ton of debt like Fender does right now.

From the article it just seems like everyone at the top wants out so they can retire. Note to Boomers, if you have all the game pieces no one else can play.

Exactly my thoughts. There were a few Squire offset reproductions a while back (something that looked like the MusicMaster II is what I'm remembering, but I can't think of the specific name), and I don't see why they wouldn't want to follow trends by remaking old models, and trying some new variants that aren't horrendous (those pawn shop guitars looked fucking TERRIBLE).

And the EDM article reminded me of this. NSFW because it's a big image.
