its actually not bad man, think of it as a cheaper mbox. It's even got the same converters if I remember correctly
we have em at gc for like 140 I think? 180 or so w/ studio one, which isn't terrible either. it does have melodyne built in

Here I can get it (with Studio 1) for exactly the same price as a Fast Track Pro with PT. My gut feeling is to get the Presonus, but I've still got a while to sit on the decision (is that an expression? NVM).

Just recorded two songs with my band using a single Mic in the middle of the room into my laptop running garage band. I need to listen again but it sounded decent just a tad quiet actually. It was weird, I couldn't turn the recording volume any higher on gb and the audio input. But idk. I'm just on my phone atm so I can't listen again right now.

I just discovered I can run my B-15 amp out directly into the effects loop of my Tascam 688.
On the up side I don’t need to hassle with setting up mics, cut out all the ambient excess noise like traffic (not exactly sound proof here).
On the down side I lose the sag, tube compression and coloration I get from the power amp cabs.

This is what we got:

and another:

EDIT: Fixed stereo problem. Still will probably overdub some better vocals with the bassist when we get the free time.

Actually not bad I guess. Just realized they're both only playing on the left side for some reason. :idk:

I'm getting a little bit on the right side, but that might just be the way my laptop distributes stereo.

I think "only on the left" happens when you record a mono track and tell the DAW it's stereo. Could be worth looking at the track settings.

I can't imagine the ambient sounds from outside will be heard in a mic that's within a few inches of a semi-fully loud B15. Wouldn't sweat that one bit man. I record bands live a lot, and even a screaming half stack 3' from a drum kit is barely heard in the drum mics with proper placement. The studio I used to use was on a heavy trucker route, and you could hear the trucks screaming by in the room if it was quiet, but once the amp, or singer, or whatever starts howling, it was pretty rare that it made it into the tracks in any significant way.

Use a mic with good off-axis rejection and know the benefits that certain polar patterns give you (off-axis rejection)... then use that to your advantage.

working on a small ep w/ my singer.
there's even a MBV cover all up in there, which you guys will probably shun as its a total 90s breakbeat track lol
there're two tracks done, 3 more to be written/produced and another cover I wanna do.
it's all ableton and maybe some protools for mixing/mastering. I'm finding I really dig ozone 5 inside of pro tools but no so much inside of ableton.
here's ozone if you're not familiar w/ it.

I need to give logic another hard look too. I'm finding it's somewhere between gband and protools in that it's easy to use but has TONs of stuff in it.

:joy:

And what's a cheap mixer that's worth taking a look at? I'm sure we could get a lot better quality with that rather than just running literally everything through one cheap mic.

Yup MB I’ll probably keep using the mics anyway.
What’s the point of having the standard for bass recording and not using it. LOL

I use an Akai DPS16. It's old but I doubt that it's holding me back.
