I think these days it's a lot easier for people simply to pretend or claim they're promoters. I see a lot of gigs put on in my city by guys like you mentioned that deal primarily through facebook and their always a cluster fuck, no PA, no monitors, not getting paid, all sorts of crap. Seems to me a lot of these dudes claiming to be promoters are just some asshole who's putting on crap gigs for their friends bands and getting some superiority complex as a result.

I guess you could just not deal with him and maybe try and talk to venues direct? They're bound to have a support slot coming up.

Pay no mind to this, it's just a minor rant.
