I want more deformed, elephant man feet in mine.
There has to be some other freak with a bad lymphatic system and horrendous genetics who loves guitar toys out there, somewhere.
I'm ambivalent about shoes, but I haven't been able to wear them physically in over five years. ;0

1. I've made demos without tuning first
2. I've made demos without my shoes and have my bare feet in the shot for several minutes
3. I don't really chord that much, but I play bass...so yea. Not that much my thing normally.
4. FUCK ALL OF YOU!
4.5. I love you all, but seriously eat a dick. I'm not putting my shoes on!

I didn't tune for my last one and said for everyone to get stuffed in the description

Tune: for the love of Dog, tune Your instrument. It might sound nicer when playing chords when properly tuned. Not that I would care myself that much but it helps with the cocksuckers who bitch about it days and nights - much to their own demise I assume.
.
Introductory notes: Don't explain half of the video how awesome the pedal is, HOw You bought it on eBay, how awesome it sounds or how awesome You, Your pedalboard, Your band and Your mom are. Thank You very much. I don't give a shit. IF You have something to say about how awesome things are, make Your point or comedy and move on with it.
NOTE: the above doesn't apply if You really are funny. Or PRO AS FUCK. Actually if You fail to care about the audience and my suggestions, You will probably make better job.
Shoes or socks issue... There seems to be different approaches to this. You can press the button with finger, too, You know. End of discussion. I'd like it, since I want You to tweak some different tone flavors out of Your fuzz. You don't have to have polished nails or wear a ring or a condom on it, or anything.
Wearing shoes? Sounds a natural choice for me, if You operate the pedals by foot. I wear shoes when I play. At home, I like to put some shoes on when I play with the pedalboard. But I assume there are bedroom pedalboard stars who are not used to play wearing shoes so...

Shoes are ok, without shoes, it depends.
Socks? Uh... Socks that perhaps used to be white?

NO! Please, at least have 'decency to have nice, clean socks, or use CGI or SOMETHING to avoid inspiring my imagination. Thank You.
Bare feet? That's absolutely no problem, people are born butt naked with bare feet, I can understand that. I've had band mates that never went onstage wearing shoes. And ladies with polished toenails are absolutely hot. And if they can do it, why shouldn't You guys try it on Your hairy toes too. :P
BUT IF You have the ringworm of the nail or such fungoid growing in that foot of Yours... Well, there's no need really not to edit out the switching, right? Or You can use the finger. Or You might want to wear the socks. Perhaps the shoes, too. Or warn the audience if its rated R, and if it is, put some graphic violence and nudity in it while You're at it, and I'll know to prepare myself with some horror popcorns.

oh, and...
Chords: can't see why not. If there's no reason to do chords or if the pedal can't do them You might want to say so, though it's not probably needed. If YOU can't play the chords, You might not want to say so.
Fuck You all! That cant be stressed enough.

Or just have a lady with nice feet turn your pedals on

that would be refreshing

heh, kind of.
I'm never satisfied with my gear demos, something is always lacking. Now that I have the sound quality and video quality taken care of, it seems like it takes SO MUCH time and effort to set up all the gear that by the time I get the instrument in my hands I can't remember a single goddamn riff.
But next week (tomorrow?!?!) I'm going to start putting together a series of bass demos. So hopefully I can set up the rig one day, nail down some sounds, and shoot the next day FRESHY FRESHY.

My complaints have pretty much all been listed.
Play chords. I don't play lead, at best I trill one note or do a high pitch slow doom riff. No fiddly-diddly or widdly-woo's. Just tchtchtchtch or chug chug chug waaaah. Play around with styles for your demo. Not just sweeps and and jazz.
Wear shoes. More personal preference here, but I don't like seeing your feet all sweaty rubbing up on a pedal. Looks nasty and makes me not want to buy the pedal because I now associate it with foot. Or use your fingers/hands or whatever else, but please, no bare feet.
Play around with the knobs. For some reason people change one knob once, then change the other ones 2-3 times. But what happens if you change the first knob again? So many combinations or idea's that could be shown get left out. A demo should show a wide variety of what the pedal can do, not just 2-3 settings.
Play through a clean channel. Don't play through a high-gain distortion channel on the amp. It makes it hard to seperate out what the pedal is actually doing, especially if it is a dirt or fuzz pedal. It also hinders what will sound good, as certain settings might sound like poo through the amps distortion.
Keep it interesting. The one thing I will note is that most try to be informative, but eventually become bland. I might watch 5-6 demo's of the one pedal trying to decide if I like it, do something to make me not fall asleep. This does not count for Aen because his video's in this regard are spectacular. Thoroughly enjoy Aen's video's.

personally i'd argue that at least idolizing Andy is healthier than idolizing generic shredder guy. because
1. appropriately varied playing for the pedal
2. plays the pedal for the pedal
3. doesn't try and be a character (haters gonna hate but this applies more to GMD than it does FBG)
4. doesn't seem to have a bias for certain effects against others (GMD's bullshit bias against reverb and inability to play anything but dirt)
5. its a level of appreciation for craft that is more difficult to devolve into corksniffery than guitar or amp demoing
complaining about shoes is dumb as hell. i got nice lookin feet. you gonna see nice lookin feed in my vids. deal with it.
as long as you:
-show what the pedal can do effectively
-play towards the pedal's abilities/strengths
-have adequate recording quality
-let the pedal speak and not yourself
your demo is fine.
