Iggy and the Stooges, 1st Yeah Yeah Yeahs record is pretty garage-y and I love that.
Now to attempt a derail, I actually love jamming in garages because the terrible sound is just plain cool and so...

Jay Reatard was the first thing I thought of, Blood Visions was the perfect modern garage-punk record as far as I'm concerned. It's a damn shame he's gone.
