GY!BE are fucking amazing, though. 28 Days Later was a wonderful pairing with their music.

Love their stuff, still haven't seen them live, couldn't give two fucks how pretentious they are as I probably wouldn't bother talking to them anyway.
I very rarely talk to bands after shows...because i'm a fucking hermit.

I certainly don't hate GY!BE, but when I want post-rock, there's a few others I go to first. But its definitely still good. And yes, they are pretentious as fuck.

This is exactly what I was going to post.

I like them here and there, but for Post-Rock they aren't my favorite. For the long and in depth stuff I've been digging Yndi Halda, and for a shorter bit of post-rock, I always go for Explosions in the Sky.

That being said, if I was in the area I'd go see Godspeed.

Jakob
Red Sparowes
Mogwai
Godspeed

I'm not that huge on Explosions, actually. But to each his or her own.

I don't have anything by Jakob or Red Sparowes, so I'll definitely check them out. I have a bunch of Mogwai, but have never really gotten into them. I like them just fine, but I just can't seem to get attached.

I'm picky on Explosions - some of their stuff is just godawful boring, but some gets it right. "How Strange, Innocence" was the first album I heard by them, and has remained my favorite. Good effect use, and some pretty nice build ups.

I'm just as hit n miss with Mogwai, actually. I really only like their most chill and downbeat stuff, like Rock Action and Happy Songs. I'm not as big on their more "rock" stuff. I'm also not as big on the first Jakob album, which sounds pretty similar to early Mogwai. But Cale:Drew and Solace are both fucking amazing. Red Sparowes kicks ass, I love everything they've done. I have to admit that I'm biased because of the Isis connection, and I am a gushing Isis fanboi.

It was the bassist, he totally blew u off and acted like a dick to us

well, bassists ARE assholes. and usually pretentious assholes. but definitely SOME kind of asshole.
