That National I bet has a lot to do with his sound too. I've seen them live and he used Airline/National guitars the whole time.

ha, that actually made me look at the lineup for the next ATP.

I don't care about Neutral Milk Hotel or Joanna Newsom-type grandpa guitar dudes,
but Thurston Moore is always worth a listen, plus Scratch Acid, The Boredoms,
The Magic Band (!), The Fall (who are sort of a trainwreck live, but an interesting trainwreck),
and Mike Watt and George Hurley Perform Songs Of The Minutemen(!!!),
plus a couple of other bands that could go either way-
Blues Explosion, Group Doueh (who are incredible but I don't know about them at ATP), Young Marble Giants, etc.
not a lineup worth a transatlantic flight, but if I was anywhere near England, I'd go see that shit.

and the next show after that is Mogwai, SLEEP, MELVINS, and FUCKING SLAYER PLAYING REIGN IN BLOOD.
also Dirty Three and Mudhoney. that is a killer motherfucking show.

So, about his amps.

Ive seen him use a Quad and a Twin in videos. Anyone ever seen Ripley use anything else?

Looks like he got a new Teese!

Let's not kid ourselves. All the tonez from this video come from playing in a room full of vinyl.

They're like Comets on Fire if the rhythm section was comatose.
