just to be contrarian:

putting humor to shit like this generally tends to mask the horrors they've comitted, imo.

i mean, i love hitler jokes, but i feel that there is a definite correlation to the increase in hitler jokes and holocaust deniers/"he wasnt THAT bad. look what he did for the economy"

yes, you're right on pointing out this. But hitler jokes in broad use turned up just about 6-7 years ago in Germany. :idk:

Inside and outside differs. Humour "may" Open another view.
And awareness. :idk:

The entire tradition of jewish humor would beg to differ.

Hitlers was bad (to make a gross understatement), but he did great things for the German economy, they are not mutually exclusive. In fact he did great things for the economy so he could do horrible things.

Laughing at this guys' death is totally disrespectful to a totally deserving fuckhead.

i think its more "the socialist party did great things for the german economy"

and yeah, its definitely deserved, but i feel eventually people forget that he's not just a punchline and that he actually is a horrible person

i agree with Mel Brooks. best thing you can do to tyrants is make them into a joke.

On the other hand in some cases the "punchline" can direct peoples eyes to the actual horribleness.. Take The Great Dictator.. At the time it was is being made we was not in the war yet.
