Anybody else think these are disturbing for the same reason?
OMG! I figured it out. It's supposed to look like somebody cut her face out of the picture and it's supposed to be a hole around where the head was.

That totally makes sense. I never saw it from that perspective though, because of the way she is facing and the hole is cut, seemingly opposite.
