Those headphones are idiotic. BUT, I do love monster cables because if I buy the cheapest ones, I can break them, and then return them for the exact same cable AS MANY TIMES AS I WANT. I have replaced the two 21' cables I have over twenty times each. I figure that's an easy way to stick it to the man, no?

Considering what they charge for them,...they should be replacing them for free,....but I've found that you can do that with any cable. I've gotten pretty good at fixing my broken cables though, so that saves me a trip.

YMMV of course.

I've had the same Monster cables for 5 or 6 years. No popping/crackling. I'm impressed.

A lot of cheaper cables have a lifetime warranty too.

I'd rather to not have to use the warranty in the first place. Something with a good Neutrik/Amphenol end will likely last longer than any Monster cable.

I will say that even my bottom of the line monster cables lasted 8 years before shitting out, but I've moved to DiMarzio and Planet Waves stuff with no noticeable loss of quality.

I bought the performance 100 kind, so it was price comparable to anything else I could buy at that length, with a right angle 1/4", and I bought it four years ago. I dig the not want to use the warranty though, that would be cool.

a bit of a derail, but

working in a guitar store for about a year, i realized that every single guitar cable is marked up significantly. oftentimes more than pedals and even guitars or amps. and usually they don't sound that good, or any better than a piece of crap that my 9 year old nephew could solder. this includes lava cables, bullet cables, monster cables, fender cables, george l's, etc.. the best sounding cable i've ever used though is this one:

http://wildepickups.com/Cable_and_Plugs.html

the plugs are a bit pricy, but the cable is pretty inexpensive. literally, this was the only cable i've ever played through that made my guitar sound audibly clearer, even to an average joe's ears. if i could afford this right now i'd buy it but i can't so i won't.

i use 1 foot 24k gold cables to retain my high end and tight bass response.

i have a dimarzio, and i like it because it doesn't tangle as much as monsters, but i have two cheapo monster cables i bought when i first started playing, neither of them have crapped out yet, but i do like i can get a new one at any time.

fuck monster (both the cables and the energy drink)

yeah, even in audiophile circles monster is looked down upon, even from Mogami whores.

as for the headphone side, high end Bose headphones are less of a ripoff, because while they're marked way the fuck up, theres actually an audible difference, and some people like Bose's bass boost.

but yeah, these 99 dollar A-T cans i got are probs three times as good as monster buds, or monster phones.

on the bright side, you can always tell a trust fund hipster from a regular one thanks to Beats.

So the verdict on Monster cables and products is that they are bad and overpriced?

Yes.

As for Bose...

No highs, no lows, must be Bose!
