So, why is it so hard for small parties to rise to any sort of power in the states? Why do you have to register for voting? Why is the voting not direct but done through some electoral college?

There are so many things about the us that challenge the way I see politics and the world and sometimes I feel like dismissing them as stupid, but I think that would be wrong. Even though they are.
