i DO like a lot of what they're doing in that vid OP posted, oh btw........

....... but dayum. that's a LOT of gear to pull off one sound. that i think is going to start annoying people with how much use it's getting. some gooood stuff in there though.

The guitarist is unneeded.
Acoustic drumz... Yeah the triggers are cool and stuff but really... a all electric kit mixed with a sampler ect would be...

if you look at the video in full screen 1080p at 01:36 you can see a bit of the bassists board... and yeah.. guitarist unneeded, super-homo-gay drum triggerz. point made :ewok:

I'm stunned to say that I really like that live cover. Holy shit.

James Blake pulls his stuff off live pretty well, I have to say. A trio recreating his sonic glories. Loop pedals, vocoders, and about a third as many samplers as those dudes have in that band. I say it counts.

Also, I don't really care for being 'cool'. I dig the hell out of that guy, regardless of whether or not Pitchfork do, or the Dubstep producer who makes his stuff under a swamp/entirely in his head to avoid selling out, doesn't.

What dubstep did you listen to? Skrillex doesn't qualify, that shit's awful.

Mostly samples that have been posted here. The only one I half-liked was the James Blake just above, tho that seemed more ambient pop than dub-related. No offense, the only semi-recent (haha) 'electronic' music that ever made me happy in my pants is the shit that Atari Teenage Riot/ Alec Empire, Bomb 20 and the like did; 'digital hardcore'. Besides much earlier stuff, like Suicide, various Foetus-Thirwell projects and real dub, like King Tubby and Scientist. If there is some truly awesome dubstep, post some links, I'll take a peep.
