i like the spotify/google music idea of sort of registering the songs you already have downloaded and making a streamable library based on that.
the problem with music libraries is that we keep thinking of them as a private thing, but it keeps moving to a more public sorta thing, so it only makes sense to draw from a universal public source, and just organize it via your personal copy of the interface into a personal version of the library.

While I agree with this idea in theory, when they put strict constraints on the amount of files that I can add to my library (I'm looking at you, Google Music) AND don't let me initially CHOOSE what music to upload to my stream (I'm now GLARING at you, Google Music), then it feels like a broken service to me.
