The moral of the story is that guy was a dick.

Otherwise, I've had good experiences. Only been raped twice, but one of those times wasn't all that bad.

It's because I was gentle and I kiss on the lips.

It's chaos, ya gotta ride it like a drunken enraged elephant. This is how the deals are found. :wha?:

Checking gear once a day is usually good enough. Just save it as a fave and check it when you check e-mail. All the deals I've found are random... Some professional ppl who don't need the $ for gear, some ppl who just want to 'get rid of shit' for whatever reason, kids w/ rich parents, ppl needing rent/court/etc. money, ppl who don't know something is rare or expensive. Ppl cashing out of one hobby to spend money on another...

And while I don't think you should lowball ppl, as a rule I never pay the listed price for something unless it's just a are-you-crazy deal or something I've realy gassed for. I tried to talk the kid down on the Univox I got, but so half-heartedly... On another guitar, the kid lived in a super-rich house/neighborhood, and asked his sister to handle the sale of the guit and just phone him if needed. I didn't ultra-lowball, but I got $75 off the guitar just by asking and realising he prob didn't care, it would just be 'weekend money' and his folks would get him a new one come birthday/x-mas.

Kegerator? Sounds sweet to me. You can find gear anywhere!

Don't put 'Firm' and 'need the $$$' in the same line or ad, IMO.
Firm = don't contact me unless u r willing to pay this price, plus you already mentioned it being 'below ebay prices'.
need the $= I need rent and you can make offers.

Drop the "LOUD" part. Replace it with something like "Loud enough for gigging, but can do bedroom volumes too."

And definitely drop the "Firm" and "Need the $$$." Both of those are like candy to assholes that will bug you on Craigslist. Saying your price is firm is like saying "I dare you to offer me less, as I'm probably bluffing," and saying you need money is like telling them "I'll probably take 1/4 my asking price, as I need food for sustenance.

I usually just put:

$PRICE - Cash only, no trades.

Short, to the point, and leaves no room for any BS from someone who feels like being cheeky. :thumb:

That right there.

The few times I've sold on C/L, I tell the buyer that we're meeting in the main parking lot of the county courthouse/sheriff's office, which is two blocks from my house. If they're legit, that shouldn't bother them - if they're not, well...

I CL all the time.
check it twice a day
& I like driving to some rural/suburb areas to buy cheap gear to flip a few weeks later in the city. lets me try out gear and make a few bucks along the way. it pays to have a vheicle.

I never have problems with people coming to my house. I set things up in my entrance space so they don't need to see my gear room. I'm happier people plug in a pedal for 2 seconds before buying instead of buying blind. (I've had a few people buy blind and contact me later that the thing didn't work as as expected...). there's nothing you can do in those situations except tell the buyer "tough luck, relist it yourself, i'm not a store"
likewise as a buyer I won't buy from a parkinglot. an honest person can invite me to their front door and not worry about getting eggs thrown at their house if they're selling junk.
I'm not an advocate of 'keep a back up buyer'. I keep a policy of 'first come, first sold'
obviously i don't spell that out to everyone, but if a dude is coming in 5 days, i'll tell him to call me on that day to get my address.
If i sell it before that date to someone else who showed up right away... well tough luck to the guy who wanted to wait.

to add on the subject of pricing...

I figure there's an unspoken rule of 30% range for negotiation.
any offers outside of that are lowballs and should be ignored.

on the other side of the coin, if the seller's price is listed too high, he'll probably be a headache to deal with and impossible to rationalize someone who thinks their vintage devi ever isn't worth 250$. best just ignore them.

I should have added that I rarely sell something that needs to be plugged in/turned on/etc via CL, but rather things like gig bags or other non-powered stuff. The only time I did sell a pedal via CL, dude called me the next day and left voice-mail saying the pedal didn't work and he wanted a refund (it was fine when I sold it and he didn't ask to try it first, either); I called him and got his v-mail; I told him to meet me in the same spot at this time two days later, he gives me the pedal back and I give him his money back. No message back from him saying that he couldn't be there then, and so I was there and waited 45 minutes and he never showed. Never heard from him again.

This is how you pimp the cl...

'D' style string, for guitar. Vintage. - $1 (Central)
Date: 2011-06-20, 3:10PM CDT

I was cleaning out my weird Uncle Mitch's house cus he died away , and I found this string. I think it must be vintage cuz he hasn't played a guitar in years. I'm pretty sure it's a D string, cuz it's not all fat like an A string. $1.

Selling my KFK 10 Band EQ for 75, guy offered me 50 and told me for 75 he would just build his own.

Does anyone know where you could possibly get a kit for a 10 band EQ and build it for less than 75?
Has anyone on here ever built their own EQ?
