Definitely doesn't sound as tinny for sure, but hit it with distortion and that airplane sound ... bleh. Not a fan. & the sweep doesn't seem to have the depth I'm after.
I'm not trying to shit on your suggestion, I do appreciate everyone's feed back here. I apologize if I come off that way.

Nah im not taking it that way at all. Sometimes it can be hard to find the right sound. I tried a lot of pedals before going full circle on the hartman and now its my only regular modulation. If you want a less tinny/airplane sound with distortion you should try running the modulation before the dirt not after. You play bass right? I've got time this afternoon I can throw a bass demo w/fuzz and the hartman w/depth maxed out to see if it can do the sound you want.

Univibe. You wants it.
I rock an aquavibe for the swirl...a good tzf flanger might get you there too, I've been wanting to check out the jack deville mod zero (it's also got chorus/trem/leslie).
No youtube video can effectively convey a good swirly sound, unless they're recording in stereo and adding plenty of studio magic.
You just have to try some out.

for flanging and chorus i use the TC Electronic SCF. it does restrained flanging AND the wall-of-Slowdive, has a very pretty chorus sound, and also features a Pitch Modulation function which is in esse a vibrato with the ability to mix in a variable level of chorus and gets close to the faux-Leslie and seasick Kevin Shields modes. my only complaint about it is that the range of the sweep speed could be a little broader at the ends of the spectrum.

Honestly, judging by those timestamps, I'd go with a univibe set to a shallow depth, and some reverb.

Reverb+Phaser or Chorus+Phaser would be my bet. The green box small stone I have plus an old maxon cs-9

I got that sound using a whetstone phaser, I bet you could get it with the grand orbiter as well.

It's not necessarily but if you'd like too that'd be cool. I'm also actively seeking a baritone, so upper register bass stuff would be cool if you do it

I'm checking out everyone elses suggestions, thank you all.
& Gunner, that's a good point. Nothings gonna sound exact on a demo, but I'd like to get as close as I can

On your whetstone, if you keep the feedback nob dialed back but the depth up, can you still hear the sweep clearly but with less of the high end swooshy-flangy noise?

I had it in the vibrato setting, I'm sure if you set it up in that setting you probably could tweak it to your liking.

Hmmm I really like the long, asymmetrical sweep, & the low pass filter..... damn it.

I feel like chorus/vibe is the closest modulation type pedal for the sound I'm thinking of for that swelling/bloom kind of sound, but I want it to sound dark and with less sparkle than most chorus. Maybe I just need a reverb. Or try a Cosmichorus

Definitly CosmiChorus
